THE NAMING GAME

The MiniCats have all been named by their new families. Some of the names were a challenge for Momma to turn into medieval names but she managed it eventually. But it's their pet names that are just the best bit and of course we have 'kitten box' names - these are the names given to us in love and sometimes they stick with us for life.  Take for example Gracie's name. Well, really her name is Grace, but that then got turned into Gracie because it rhymed with racey of which she is, in more ways than one that Peppadora ManCat of hers told me!!! And then she has other names, like 'pest', 'spot', 'precious', 'babe'. All suitable names and comes to none of them!

Faith has many names, but 'only' comes to 'Faith, come on honey'. But she knows to respond to 'Bubbah Fish' (which was short for baby delicious??!!) But then it got shortened and shortened and really in the house she is called 'Bubbah' most of the time. Daft if you ask me, but she is a babe! Oh yeah, a real babe. That Peppadora ManCat said as much...

Now if you want a baby, well, we have Lillibet. At three years old, she really is not a baby, but she still acts like one and she gets called all sorts of names. She mainly gets called 'Bitty' or 'Ickle Bitty Betty'. This just makes her worse and she mewls like a newborn and puts her ears flat down whilst Momma whispers 'I love you' in her huge ears. Sometimes if Faith hears all this going on, she will worry that Lillibet is upset and wants to come and love her and wash her. Lillibet really does have an amazing vocabulary, unlike Gracie who is just one syllable, even when talking to her kittens, she first just sort of yelled at them, but now, she is learning to chirrup and interact verbally. It has been quite funny to listen to.

Even though these tiny babies of Gracie's have been blessed with fabulous names, the Parentals still have kitten box names at weighing time. "Chocolate drop" Says ManSlave picking out Sophia. "Yelly" picking out Flaire. "mwah mwah mwah" he kisses Kevin a lot?  "Mouldy" as he collects Floki up. Don't take offence, anything that isn't one colour gets called mouldy in our house by ManSlave. Momma had a spotted pony, he was declared "Mouldy". Momma had a spotted rex Rabbit and he was declared mouldy too.  and yes... look at me and even Gracie... all mouldy. This is why we never have any of those tortoise type coloured cats here, they would have a complex!

I, of course, don't have any pet names, I am King Slinky and no one shall call me any different. Well, except Momma. I like it when she calls me 'Rinky Dink' and kisses me and tucks me in my ruggy. ManSlave gets away with calling me 'Wrinkle', but only because I like to sit on his lap and purr. But no one else can call me kitten box names. End of!  I am the king of cats and no one can take that place... even Kevin who is named after Edward the Fifth! You work it out!

STORK HAS BEEN

Here they all are, those Maystarlings. Wow what a fun packed day that was. Momma has been hibernating in the kitten room with Gracie and this morning Gracie said it was time in her 'one voice voice'. So into the kittening box on Momma's bed and within half an hour we had our first ickle mini cat a little boy the same as TomFun. I could only catch glimpses if the door was opened, but Momma is a chatter box and she did a great running commentary. Then hours later we had our first girl, she looks like a mini Lillibet, then shortly afterwards a huge girl, bigger than all the others and then the weeny one, the chocolate and white dib dab. ManSlave said "they can't hear yet can they?" No" Momma said. "That's ok then... she looks, well, um..." and so it was that he described Lillibet when she was born.

After they all arrived, Gracie was still trying to push out the biggest baby you ever did see. He was so big that Gracie had to visit Simon at the Vets and have him removed surgically. Even though she had that done, she never got the FURMOMETER??? I don't get that? I went in for a Neoplasm what not and I had a FURMOMETER!!!

Well, it wasn't long and all the babies and Gracie were back together again. It was decided that Gracie wasn't to have any real chemicals to make her sleepy, so Simon used Gas and just slightly put her under and did a quick C-Section. The thing that took the time was trying to revive 'Rocky', as he has been named, before he goes into the special place in the garden.

All these babies want to do is drink and sleep. All Gracie wants to do is sleep and more sleep. She is quite poorly with no pain medication, but seeing as the babies are so lively, Simon states if Momma can give her lots of TLC, she will make it without and not risk harming the babies. It was a really good job she went in, the baby was wallowing around the saggy uterus and he had been pressing on Gracie's lungs and when all the others left the warmth of inside, she began to cough. Yikes, that's pneumonia. I know there is a special term for it, but I am just a cat!  Moma also noticed she was getting a bruise on her boobs, this is the beginnings of Mastitis...Pffft. Just what she needs a double dose of fury!

Hopefully, she won't get that pink stuff in a jar that tastes like strawberries. I mean, since when do cats eat strawberries? It makes you foam at the mouth and drool and everything. Lets hope it's not that!

Well. Enjoy our new family. There may be a little one staying here so follow that story closely to see who stands out from the crowd!

Now, how to get my licker on some of that kitten milky!

DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE

Lillibet has always has odd moments and this is no exception.  We have a hedgehog holding open the bathroom door, not a real one of course, that kind wouldn't sit holding open doors, nope, this is the stuffed kind and it had moved?

Lillibet took it upon herself to stalk it from the bedroom and kept sitting up to get a better view, just like meercats do to get a better view of their surroundings and play lookout for eagles and such like, but never stuffed hedgehogs!

She had the whole house wondering what to make of this strange behaviour. In a home environment, I can't really see it's use?  I mean, I am the one that should be looking at stuff with a strange eye. It is me that Simon the Vet has put on a small dose of Tramadol which allegedly was suppose to make me sleepy, but instead I could see birds and butterflies, moths and spiders in everything. I have hallucinated my self through three days of whirrment and not once did I do this to get a better look at a stuffed toy. I did so much running and jumping, OK, some of the jumping was a bit hit and miss, but it got a laugh or two out of the Parentals, more so this a meercat impression of Lillibets.

So, you may ask, why have I been put on such heavy duty opiates? Well I had an altercation with some milk residue. It made me vomit all over the house. I did it all over just for ManSlave to find. Oh how he swore at me. I then used two trays to leave some liquid gold in. Momma gave me some 'glue your bum up paste' but that made me even worse. It has Soya oil in it and by goodness that was worse than the milk. Then Momma gave me red powder which is for cats with terrible tummies. That was fun too. So after all this experimenting to make my Chocolate gold return to normal, I was whisked off to Simon and unceremoniously 'de-flowered' with the FURMOMETER! YAWP. There really is no need. Surly my skin tells you if I am in a fever? I went pink and yelled and paddled away and swore a bit to no avail. It was announced that I might just have something a little suspect in my gut - yeah...A FURMOMETER AND NO FOOD! I am starving hungry all the time and can't keep any Noms in. I don't mind these 10 tiny meals a day, but I am not getting extra, just a few kibble at one time... I could fade away between meals I tell ya. I may not be here next week to monitor kitten deliveries. I may have shriveled into a tiny heap of hunger.

BIRTHDAY BONANZA

Yesterday was Lillibet's Birthday. But not only Lillibet's, but Jaz and Jamie too.  They had a very special birthday and have been traveling all around the world. Just in June they were here visiting and playing in our toy box and then off to France they went and then on to Greece, where they didn't stay long at all because everyone was rioting. Jamie can cause his own riots so they left there and traveled on towards Crete where they spent the rest of their Summer holiday.  On their return they stopped in Florence. Such a beautiful place Momma says and she fondly remembers escorting GrandMewMew around the incredible streets and plazas. What a great birthday surprise that they landed in the boat back in Dublin to have a 5 star room off the Liffy and play with drapes and upholstered chairs as scratching posts. They sure do live the high life.

Lillibet had a self made party for one. She played all day with a new mousie. She loves the 'fresh out of the packet smell' and played for hours until she was totally exhausted.  There is currently some packing paper in the lounge. It's such fun that it has been left out for us to rampage around in and I geed Lillibet up with a few games of hide and pounce. It is such fun, stalking the unknowing passer by. Makes me all excited and I race about like a crazy cat... or that could be the drugs?

So onwards to today and she is helping Momma in the office whilst waiting for Gracie's babies to be born. It's really not long now, just a day we all think. We are keeping a close eye on her and making sure she doesn't venture too far from the kitten pen. Yesterday, after Lillibet's fish cake, ManSlave heard a mewing and found her behind the microwave. She had slipped behind there to see if it was any good for having babies in, but soon found out she couldn't get out because her belly is so BIG! She looks like she ate a few tennis balls. Waddling about the place and laying down on the floor mainly. She still wants to be naughty and race about, but she gets so tired she just has to rest.

Bet i get locked out of the Kitten Room again and it will be an all girls affair with no boys allowed.  Well, Momma will need ManSlaves help of course, to hold the sharp end!

SCANS FOR THE MEMORY

2/9/2015

Our lovely friend Trudy came over from Breeder Scan to look inside the CatWomens tummies. She swooned over me when she arrived. I like a lady who swoons. I am very special. I asked her if she could scan tickers, but the answer was only baby tickers to count how many there are inside critters tummies. Fair enough and onwards to more smooching.

Faith knew the drill and was laying on the bed, tummy exposed. Gracie wasn't quite sure until she saw Faith have her tummy scanned. There were only tiny black holes with white cotton in them to see on faith's scans. The babies were not quite 28 days so really just tiny back bones and not much else. There were three little ones in there, but momma can only feel two? We shall see who is right in October.

Gracie, on the other hand, has 3 good sized babies and possibly another at the back there?  Hers had paws and tails and little heads. They were wriggling about like crazy when Trudy put the scanner over them ever so gently. Momma's buddy, Pixy Love, was visiting with her hubby and her Mobile went off and just as Trudy scanned the kitten Pixy Love's mobile said "hi, I am Rocky..." the whole room was in hysterics and Trudy said "nice to meet you".

Momma was having a joke with some friends on Facebook about the fact some of the kittens could be black and white like penguins and that her cat friend had recently had three single kittens 'onsies'. That made Momma think of kittens in penguin onsies and when one of the kittens showed up on the screen... it looks for all the world like a penguin.

Gracie had lots of fun kissing and laying on Pixy Love. She is in a very snuggly mood at the moment, but I don't really like being smothered and having my nose licked, so I tend to stay away from all that kinda action. If I wanna kiss a CatWoman, it's on my terms!

    QUEEN VEE

    OFFICIAL BLOG SPOT
Since 2012 King Slinky has written and devoted his life to his loyal subjects, but with his passing in October 2016 someone had to be successor to the crown.

The position now falls to Queen Vee.  She is now the reining 'blog' monarch here at Maystar HQ.

Vee lives with her  Sister Flaire, her great great grandaughter, Gazoo she is also great Aunt to SaBreena, friends with Faith and Lillibet and distant second cousin Mae.  We also have reigning Kings Elton & Eros who are related to each other but not the queens.
