Gracie has now had to move home. There was so much fighting and upset in the house and not really any ones fault. Unfortunately, once Gracie's kittens were born she seemed to express unusual behaviour towards her kittens. Her last litter was quite a traumatic experience and she inflicted great harm onto the kittens. Then went on to attack them even though they were a year old. It made for a very uncomfortable household with everyone on edge. She was then caught dragging 2mth old kittens about that didn't belong to her and fights then ensued between mother cats. It was a hard decision to neuter her and then came the thought to re-home her with the permission of her breeder.
We were contacted by a family in Ayr where they had a Mogwai Devon Rex boy for 18years so were known by the DRX community. Mel & her Mother (Granny) came to visit and Gracie is either a lover of people or she won't give them the time of day. As soon as she laid eyes on these ladies she flirted and rolled around on her back and applying kisses to their faces. They were all in love and with contracts signed off she went. We are getting regular reports and updates of her outgoing little nature and the love and devotion she shares with Granny, Mel & her children. They all love her dearly and she is much happier and calmer without other cats around. She was getting quite distressed and unhappy and for such a happy go lucky girl, it was unfair to keep her just because we loved her. She now has one on one attention as well as children to play with.

Gracie came into our lives at what you might call the 'wrong moment'. She was born in September, which meant she would be living with us in December time. It was also unexpected. We had a call from Shirley Churches, her breeder, to say that our kitten had been born. We hadn't asked for a kitten. But Shirley was keeping a promise from 2012 when TomFun passed away and Shirley had said we could have the first one out from her wonderful girl Sonya. Well, promise kept and bad timing because I was due in for Spine surgery and thought how were we ever going to manage anyway? But she came into our lives and blew us away with her charms and beauty. A determined little thing from the start and so loving and ready for anything.
We have been blessed by her really and every day of my initial recovery, Gracie was there, now nicknamed 'Nurse Gracie' by her adoring Facebook fans. She was that and more. fun and company and entertaining. Quite the naughty streak. She learned many things from our older Devons and lets just say, she learned all the bad stuff! Her temperament is wonderful. She is clean and washes her white bits and keeps herself very prim. That is not to say she isn't a tomboy and thinks nothing of wading around in the CatPod searching for bugs and getting grubby. |
