MAYSTAR MEWS 2020
Tyga leaves for pastures new
The sweetest and kindest member of the Pride left home this week to start a new life in Gloucestershire with the James family. Tyga is going to be doted on by her new bestie, Scarlett, who is totally besotted with her already. We are sure she will settle into a warm loving home very quickly and become everyone's much loved funny girl.
She sure is a little clown and loves to play and hunt and hide. She loves nothing better than a snuggle and a kiss as well as copious amounts of treats and fun times. All of which the James family will provide her with. DEC 2020

Fillycat joins Maystar
Meet our newest member of the Pride, ITZAPROMISE QUEEN PHILLIPA. She joined us just before the latest lockdown and is related to both Viktori and Pearl. She will join the breeding programme here at Maystar and would like to thank Jane Rowden for her trust in us.
Fillycat is adventurous, funny, charming and happy and has slotted into the younger pride members. She has a great temperament with a slight old English Rex attitude which we love. NOV 2020

Tilly Ticle hits the news
How lovely to turn to the GCCF newsletter and see sweet Tilly Tickle (PREMIER MAYSTAREX DAME D'ANGLAISE) who is an odd eyed white and was supporting the BAER testing for white cats due to them potentially being deaf. It is important for registrations that cats are not deaf when bred from. Other registries are used and don't require such registrations. When Tilly was tested she was found to be deaf in her left ear which was why she was neutered and now a very happy show pet. OCT 2020
Vets for the masses
It's been a crazy month already. Faith, Flaire and Lillibet have vaccinations and check ups at the vets. Viktori had her bladder poked with a needle again to test her urine. Pearl has a shift in a B12 vitamin causing a deficiency in her body and was raced to the vets after exploding both ends.. Tyga is unfortunately neutered at only 2yrs old after experiencing a closed Pyometra, an infection of the uterus. Lets hope that's it for this month! SEPT 2020
Viktori Vee has bladder trouble
Very unfortunately for Queen Vee, she has had numerous visits to the vets in this lockdown period. I find the service excellent and in some ways even better than the usual clinic as we don't have to sit in a barking reception. It certainly keeps the kitties calmer. Viktori has visited numerous times now and finally we are at a stage of a diagnosis where she has Struvite Crystals in her urine. There is no wonder she was piddling randomly around the house trying to tell us something was up. It is a very painful condition and one that is making her increasingly more sick. With bloodwork showing inflammation and urine samples taken with a giant needle and scans and Xrays and possibly surgery to remove the offending rocks, she is not having a good month. AUG 2020

SaBreena visits the vets in lock down
Poor SaBreena had to visit Vet Elly at Broad Lane as an emergency. She was being sick and had an upset tummy too. She had been calling for boys at her tender age of 7months and the vet felt it was contributing to her illness. She also had a wild spiking temperature which wouldn't go away so blood tests were done and medication to bring down the temperature and antibiotics to cover her for any infection. After just one day, she perked up, could eat and keep food in and bounced back to normal within 7 days. The blood tests all came back clear and left the vet scratching her head and SaBreena is none the worse for wear. JUNE 2020
Bruno dances into his new life
Bruno, too, landed on his paws and was collected by his new family at Maystar HQ via the 'back-door' due to Covid-19. Strange times call for strange measures. He arrived, purred up a storm, met his new pal, Tootsie, and is slowly winning her over. He has, however, won over his new parents with his dance moves and varying amounts of Devon Rex humour as he is rather a clown. MAY 20
Winner Winner Turkey Dinner!
Mishka, the little rescue Rex from 2019, has swept the floor with two further Grand Wins, two further Best Of Colour and finally taking Best in Show Pedigree Adult at the Coventry & Leicester Show this month.
She was a little superstar for her family who are very proud of her indeed. She was in beautifully clean condition and well turned out, spotlessly clean and tidy. Grooming is a huge set of points for the the Pedigree Pet Section as well as impeccable manners.
She will now be known as GRAND MASTER CAT MISHKA (subject to GCCF confirmation)

Flairelings are Born
On the 29th January Flaire and Ikon had a beautiful litter of fat chunky and healthy babies. There are three boys and one special girl. All are doing really well and Mum and babies are happy and content.
There was one kitten we labled Stix, she was just amazing, but only a teeny 41gms and just not fit for this world. She made it to 5 days old. RIP little one. FEB 2020

Miss Marple investigates her new cottage
Miss Marple has moved into a bijou cottage in Northants with Lizzy and her numerous Devons and small canines. She wasn't at all phased by any of the new surroundings when we delivered her. She is clever, smart, quick and keeping Lizzy on her toes. She is cuddly and aloof in equal measure which makes her even more endearing.
She loves her food and enjoys snuggling right into her new family to keep warm and toasty. Her best friend is a rescue farm cat called Midnight. We are so thrilled she has a purrfect home and a wonderful owner who waited such a long time for her perfect baby. JAN 2020 |
Ikon makes Grand Champion and 6th Time BOV WINNER!
We took Ikon to the joint Eastern Show where he excelled himself again with two Grands and a further BEST OF VARIETY Section 4 win. He really is loved by the judges, mainly because he is super cuddly and very loving whilst being judged.
There was no actual competition in his Grand classes, although, there was lots for the BOV awards and he just handled so very well indeed. I am proud to show him. JAN 2020
