When we go away in Amara, Momma takes each of us outside and around the caravan and shows us a good place to hide under the step.  The step is very important, it is a 'safe zone' where nothing can happen to us and it is also the way back into Amara.  We also get SO MUCH fuss when we sit on the step and treats and kind words that sometimes, it's worth nipping back for a quicky refresher.  But you have to be careful the step can be misconstrued as 'time out and time to go in'.  So if you want to go in, you have to stretch onto Amaras door! But none of us really want to go in at all, especially that Lillibet.  She is quite a Brahma when it comes to going in and she often gets a time out on the step for feisty behaviour.

As you may have read in my previous blog, Flaire & Faith took a trip to Scotland without us. Gracie is expecting you see and couldn't travel and Lillibet was left to keep her company and I got restricted to the kitchen... but that's a whole other story!

Flaire hadn't had much outside time, only a few goes and she was getting good on the last trip, less nervous.  She has gone to sitting in between Momma's legs on a floofy rug to a small stroll against a fence where Momma is always close so that any running backwards is discouraged.  This can lead to escapes, but Momma's firm and fair manner with a good quick reward system and only rewarding good behaviour and ignoring the stuff she doesn't want us to do, we all learn quickly that reversing stuff is not an option.  Momma also carries a stick. It's for lots of things. Keeping us in a straight line, encouraging us up onto something for a look see, it's for following and used as an attention getter if we fail her voice commands. It is never used as a kitty beater, although, we so like it when she scratches us between the shoulder blades as a quick reward.

Well, on this tip, Flaire had much more time to herself and Momma spent a good half hour each day getting the babies confidence up. By the end of a 10 day trip she was so busy and sat at the door waiting for her harness to be put on, sometimes being very demanding with her asking too! Faith said how Flaire would cry and look out longingly from the windows.  Faith doesn't really 'do' outside on holidays, she is more of a window lounger and a watcher, but cries and cries at the door to watch if the baby goes out.  ManSlave has to hold her and she purrs and chats to him. 

As soon as Flaire got the hang of the real outside, she had so much fun.  It was so windy, she was literally flying through the air, carried by the strong winds.  She really loved it.  Momma took her a little way into the woodland too and she stood on logs and enjoyed the leaves and bugs.  But there are dogs in the woods, so Momma has to time everything just right.  Flaire really does have guts, she trots along, taking after me of course, and loves to jump and play fast games.  Momma had to tie a long piece of cord onto her lead so Flaire had more flying space.  Wow, she is fun to watch and fun to play with. Even ManSlave enjoyed taking 'his baby' for a walk and wasn't embarrassed about a floofy kitten on a lead. He was just so proud of her excitement for adventure. It's a real shame the holidays are ending as Gracie is having babies soon, so no more trips for quite some time, but I doubt she will forget how to do it all!

Talk about a proud day, even if a little lucky in Momma's opinion!  Faith, Flaire and her sister, Sophia, were entered into yet another show, this time up in Scotland where Sophia lives.   It was a fun show by all accounts and even Faith got to sit in MY CROWN BED!!! YAWP!  I was there in spirit of course., In my styrofoam Slinky position. 

Flaire got a cracking rosette as well as another gold card, one away from that all illusive challenge certificate making her a champion. Oh god, that kids head will be SO big!  To achieve this, she lay in the judges arms and screamed as though her legs had been pulled off!  Please kid, just behave will you? It sounded like someone was poking sharp sticks at her at one point when she caught sight of ManSlave during the afternoon.  What a spoilt brat. Momma cringed! She recognised that voice from the other end of the hall where Faith was.

Sophia, Maystarex Princess Palatine, was better behaved and got her all important gold card too giving her a first in a very difficult class. One up against her very best friend who really should have taken the gold but refused to play nicely with the judge and the other, her nemesis and housemate! Apparently, Sophia went all gah gah when she saw the parentals purring and such like. What a little sooky. Always was ManSlaves favourite chocolate drop.  

Faith even achieved a special rosette for 'Peoples Pick' in the exhibition section  This is where everyone chooses their favourite kitty from about 60 others.  Flaire got one for her section too.  How nice of the Scottish folks. They were of course both chuffed with their tiny haul of rosettes and cracking gift set each with pipe cleaners and wiggly straws. 

I wonder what the next show will hold?  Winner winner Turkey dinner again?
