HAPPY NEW EARS FOR ALL

It is the time of New Years Resolutions. A time to reflect on the year passed and move forward with new inspiration.  So far this year I have made all my resolutions and carried out the majority of them already.

Theft being top of the list.  I have already removed stale minute old food from dishes left around the kitten room. But my most famous move was to steal food which was locked in the kitten pen with a slight gap for the Minicats to come and go. There was just enough room for me to slide my 'go go gadget' leggie in with half of my shoulder and look longingly through the wire and scraped and scraped with my paw until it caught on the dishy and I dragged it longingly towards my awaiting mouth.  Now, my head will fit into the 'gap' but not my whole body and the only way I can achieve even that much is to twist my head sideways - hey presto. Now to chow down. Oh yeah. This resolution thing is wonderful and my tummy is full of forbidden things that will no doubt end in the Pink Tray later today. Who cares, live for the now. But for now I am one happy cat - or I was until I was caught by ManSlave and no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get my head out fast enough and I was caught, red pawed, face full and decidedly pink. YAWP!

My following resolution is controversial, even to me.  I MUST NOT STEAL! Every time I steal something or outwit the Parentals, I suffer. They also know by just 'looking' at me that I have stolen. This is hard for me to hide. My left eye clamps shut and nothing can open it and as I stare out, one eyed, the other puffed up and claim it wasn't me - it clearly was! I have to try and not steal because it upsets my belly. I spend the following few hours in and out of the Pink Tray and I say to myself at this point "This just isn't worth the pain." I then get treated like an invisible! Not here, ignored. I smell so bad - how can they ignore that? I can't ignore my bad habits and lay, stomach churning, dreaming of licking the sink.

My last resolution is to be nicer to my fellow housemates. I have become grumpy and the 'thing', my 'Neoplasm' is growing again on my back and I think this is playing it's part in my grumpiness. That and being covered in scabs from stealing! But I guess, I should try and be nice to the Minicats too. They just seem so busy and I don't like busy, I like sleeping and hiding under the bedclothes. But that in it's self causes issues... they pounce on me. Bah humbug I say to all things like this. I am a grown lad of 9 and a half years and this is not the time to be frisky.  So, I have been trying hard and OK, a few times I have managed a play with the chain or the string or some new feather toy the Four 'E's' got us for Xmas. I have tried not to rush about too much though, because the last time I did that Gracie and Faith plowed their teeth and nails into my hide and ruffled my dander. But again, my nice side is saying that everyone just needs a chance to enjoy the little things in life, a catnip toy, a sit on the windowsill with a companion. But nowhere does it state that I have to play babysitter to Minicats!

I hope you are all keeping up with your New Years Resolutions too?  It's no easy task is it?

It's Christmas time and although it pains us, we are going to let the babies go to their new homes (With exception of Sophia - she leaves just after Xmas)  It will be super quiet around here and Flaire won't have any play mates soon.  But their new families really want to take them and Momma has known Floki & Kevin's family for approximately six years so is confident they will be fine and 'not just for Christmas'.

Gracie is very proud of her litter. They are well rounded and very happy babies, purring and cuddly, all except Flaire - Are we never to get a loving one?  We ALWAYS keep the naughty ones, ones that THWAK me on my head and spit at me. Watch out kids, I am the King around here you know.

With their bags packed with homemade tartan and fluffy fleece blankies and ickle homemade fluffy mousies and a sardine each (not a real one!!) A bag full of food and cat litter and all their documents in a pack with photographs on a USB stick. Pretty much all a kitten needs to start afresh - that and a new human to wrap around their paws!

Already we have had reports of naughty doings. Widdling from Floki and Kevin - tut tut both.  But it's all very overwhelming when you go to a new home and everything is so much bigger and more frightening than home.  So a few helping words of advice from Momma and all was restored and widdling resumed in the right places again!  Devons are such naughty beasties if things are not 'just so'. We take it upon ourselves to dispute by laying down our laws.  Litter must be deep and trays covered. None of this standing in a centimeter of litter having it splash up your legs - oh no. We are delicate souls and want it our way!  Changing litter is a no no too. It must be exactly the same unless you are changing for cat grit and then, well, we all love cat grit!  Of course, the food we have eaten for the first 14weeks of our lives is now null and void and anything Momma has sent with them will be totally ignored. It's the law!

Sometimes when Uncle Paul looks after us, I take it upon myself to leave Chocolate Gold on the bath mat!  I don't know why I do it and I only do it on day one.  Shrug. I am just so angry that they have left me here with dangerous arguing CatWomen with no escape, that I have to show my upset by making a stinky and of course creating more work.  I once had an accident on the ensuite mat when I made a tiny squeak at ManSlave to be let out of the bedroom for a no.2.  He missed me asking and I made haste to the mat to deposit my Chocoate Gold. ManSlave awoke in a frenzy of coughing, I sat on his chest and watched him wake up, purring away with a smile on my face as he struggled for breath at the stench and couldn't move because I was holding him down.  I was not in favour all that day - I never understand?  I DID ASK!

TRY AND TRY AGAIN

Being an inquisitive minicat can really have it's disadvantages. But they always succeed in the end with a helping paw from Mum.  Flaire has been adamant that she will make the top of the kitten pen and there are easier ways to reach the top, but she has chosen the most direct and efficient way to reach it.  However, for one with such tiny springs, it proved a little hard. But not to be defeated she tried a number of times and then, with extra bounce and change of position, she just made it. Ironically, she hasn't found it to be as interesting up there as first thought.

Cats can be as the Parentals say 'clumbsy' and boy do they have a giggle at our expense when one of us incorrectly judges the top of a very slippery fish tank lid, or the pounce has gone out of your feet and you fall unceremoniously from your perch.  I am quite a heavy cat and not very agile. I can run fast and turn corners, but I am very long and my body doesn't bend and flex like a cats should and my bottom is fatter than the other felines in the house, therefor making my jump, lets say, less flexible. I can't quite get my back paws around my front paws and under my chin. But someone like Lillibet is very flexible. She is like a gymnast, performing her tricks and flips and spins in the air. I don't know how she does it.

We think Flaire might be flexible. She has a lovely long elegant back and long luxurious leggies. They are bound to get strong and carry her to great heights. Well, we hope so, because crashing into sides of kitten pens is not going to increase her chances of being top cat. Heaven help us - more top cats!

    QUEEN VEE

    OFFICIAL BLOG SPOT
Since 2012 King Slinky has written and devoted his life to his loyal subjects, but with his passing in October 2016 someone had to be successor to the crown.

The position now falls to Queen Vee.  She is now the reining 'blog' monarch here at Maystar HQ.

Vee lives with her  Sister Flaire, her great great grandaughter, Gazoo she is also great Aunt to SaBreena, friends with Faith and Lillibet and distant second cousin Mae.  We also have reigning Kings Elton & Eros who are related to each other but not the queens.
