Momma sent me away for a whole month.  She desperately wanted to collect me, but her friends said no. I was to stay until I was pregnant.  Well, I am not pregnant.  I walked right back in the house two nights ago and guess what?  Yep, you guessed right.  I began to call.  This will never do.  I am a home bird.  I don't like leaving Momma and I just switch off when the boys come a hunting.  I let them practice a bit but as soon as they hit the mark, I fall to my knees and twist away.  My Mum, Grace, told me just how much those big barbed boy willies hurt and there is no way on this earth I am having that in me!

Momma does have a plan B but I am yet to hear about it and if plan B fails I am for the chop.  I am nearly two years old!  A relative youngster and I love kittens but didn't realise exactly what went on to get them.  The birds and bees talk was rubbish at catschool. It was all diagrams and charts - believe me - it is no walk in the park I can tell you.

Do you know that boy cats dive on us when we feel primed enough at the rear end and yes, the boys have to do the priming! This bit is OK, Pearl often primes me up at home. It is OK, not bad and you roll about a bit afterwards and play chase.  Well, boys do NOT want to play chase or have you rolling about.  Oh no. Boys jump your bones and bite hard on your neck, they dig their teeth in at a  90 degree angle so your skin twists your face back into a snarl.  Then they scratch your bum so all your hair comes off and you look like some ragged sheep before sheering, the ones that rub their fleeces off on the fencing!  They scratch your butt so you lift it up to the correct height for them and they keep stamping away until you are pumped up like a car in for an MOT.  Well, believe me - I am in no mood for a service let me tell you and I stick my tail between my leggies to stop the ramrod from hitting the spot !

Momma said I am naughty and if I wasn't such a tease the boys would leave me alone, but I am a sweet cat and quite gentle really.  However, there is no way on this planet I am holding my tail to the side for anyone. Unless they hold it for me!  This could be Momma's Plan B? She might have to hold my tail to the side for me - is this then classed as rape?  Bastet help me. I know you are the goddess of kittens but surely there has to be another way?

Momma said she could do AI but her friends wouldn't do 'the job' on the boy cats.  Also, those swimmers only last 30mins so it would have to be a quick job all round.  So I guess that is out of the question.  Nope. Until the hoomans come up with a better idea, I am plaiting my legs and saying no to the blow!  So with sore ragged neck, bleeding and scabbed and smelling like an old goat. I am home and looking forward to playing with Pearls MiniCats.

ManSlave has built us tiddling ladies a spare house as well as when we call so does the tinkling!  I can come in with my pants on for fuss and love and then go back outside for the day whilst the others have free roam of the house.  It is nice and cool out there too. A good breeze rolls through and the views are amazing over the wilderness nextdoor.  I suppose I must head for a bath again - this TCP smell is really getting to me!

With love and purrs from your Queen Vee =^..^=

It was a weekend of showing fun for Otta, Tilly & Flaire.  Each up for different certificates.  Otta, the first of his champion certs, Flaire for Grands and Tilly for a kitten experience day out.  Momma was Judging with the Mother of Bowtruckles, Miss Whimzeerex and Tilly's hooman was Stewarding.

Flaire had a huge pen all to herself, you could fit in 3 cats with all the space she had. It did keep her quieter and stopped the flying at the bars to scare the judges and stewards. Apparently, from reports, she was very well behaved.  Mmmm.  I think they were being polite as one experienced judge called her a feisty little biatch, in a nice way you understand!

Their day went from good to amazing in just a short time.  Flaire had been entered incorrectly by the new GCCF computer system and put into a higher class called an Imperial.  She was judged as such and to everyone's surprise, she gained the IMP in each class.  Thankfully, Momma's breeder friends noticed the error and reported it to the show manager. Phew. She was successfully downgraded to a GRAND. Luckily she didn't have to be judged again.  She also gained a Best of Breed which then put her into the Best of Variety category and was chosen BOV ADULT.  It was like a dream.

Tilly had a super day too with two 1st certificates in her kitten class and a Best of Breed over 2 kittens.  She was then placed in the Best of Variety Kitten with all breeds in her section and came out tippy tipp top and was awarded BOV Kitten THEN she was whisked from her pen to the big navy blue show pens as she had won Best of Variety over the Adults, beating her Mother and neuters.  Everyone was gobsmacked and her Hooman, Mrs B, nearly passed out.  She made Best in Show runner up over a stunning Long Haired Oriental.  Momma was just a tad bit proud even when Tilly shouted her head off and hissed at the judge! Ooops.

Now, we must tell you about 'Our Otta'.  He had moaned a little when he left home and must have plaited his leggies as during the show he managed a giant poop in his tray that they had a vet out to look at because he had split his bottom a little. He was disputing at the fact he had come home with  two blue rosettes and no red ones like the girls.  He did get a whopping first place in a side class of five other all breed cats.  He will also get a bigger pen next time because he had to be folded in the smaller one due to how big he has grown. The judge said he was nice but needs a better stop and to shake the guard hairs on his butt.  He is fine and we all love him, especially me, so it doesn't matter.

I am still on my Hollibobs and will be home next weekend.  I stall haven't mated and have no intentions of ruining this slimline body of mine by filling it full of kittens and ruin my figure.  Nope, I just don't fancy the act of 'doing it' and much prefer looking out at the fields being harrowed and seeded that playing with the boys and heck, I have had the choice of three to play with and that doesn't include Otta!  I am just a tease. Hey ho - sorry to all those waiting for me to produce. This kitty carry cot is shut for the summer duration!

Lots of love from your Queen Vee =^..^=

FRENCH KISSING KITTENS

The more we hear about past Maystarlings, the funnier the stories each time.  The Flairelings litter was no exception where we hear that Elly, Lionel & Tilly Tickle are up to no good and being typical naughty but very lovable MiniCats that are growing into really big cats now and ruling their worlds and keeping their new hoomans on their toes!

Elly the Ghost From Coventry

Picture
Picture
We hear that Elly fits in purrfectly well in her Dutch home.  She still enjoys watching TV and snuggling in bed, where Mrs H declares that  "She loves to relax on my lap, all purring. And in the morning when I want to get up, she is lying there in my bed, exactly where I want to leave the bed, blocking the exit so to speak.  As I don't want to disturb her I leave the bed at the other side."  She goes on to tell Momma that "When I arrive home from shopping, she dives into that big Morrison's bag to investigate what I have bought. She hopes there will be tins of tuna in. She recognises them and keeps on screaming until I have fed her one of those tins."
Elly is still like a flying dervish and we did warn Mrs H and she said at the time "Ah, that is OK, it is normal Devon Rex behaviour, but we hear that Elly has taken her bounding to a level surpassing some of the Deons in Mrs H's home and she isn't always adored for some of the things she does. "When she feels like flying she is like a whirlwind. Up and down the stairs, making enormous jumps onto the cabinets and then throwing off the ornaments, preferably when Fred (her half brother) is waiting so she can aim at his head.  Only one thing I don't like at all. The moment I bend over she jumps on my back and starts using it as a scratching post.  But when I scream she jumps off again."

Elly sounds a right little pest and recently there was a discussion on Face book about Tilly and Elly doing similar things.  It made me laugh so hard because we are all renowned for the following at Maystar so everything is locked away, shoes, jewelry and such things we can steal.  I often steal lots of things and hide them in the cardboard hide out on the landing, until I peed in it and ruined it!  So to this end we read that Elly does similar things too. "Elly uses
my boots to hide her treasures in is also nice. At first I didn't realise she was doing this so then my foot went into a boot and reached a nail clipper. Elly was waiting for it to happen and laughed. I know now what to expect and empty them daily."  I know she will be doing all the usual stuff too like opening doors, stealing food, emptying cabinets and draws, but these are just normal Devonshire acts. Elly has also had her tail measured because it was found to be very long indeed at a whopping 28cm.  She is 2nd longest in the 5 cats who live with her, only topped by her half brother, Fred, beating her by a cm.  Elly has  a whopping 5cm advance on the shortest tail.  Quite a tale has been told about Elly that's for sure. The best part is the stories of the love she gives and how happy she makes Mrs H. Just a shame about using her new Mom as a scratch post!!!  Ooops. That's what makes us Maystars so special though!

Tilly Tickle Kitty Little

Picture
Picture
The sweet Tilly Tickle has been deemed a Devil Child by Ms B. Although, she is also very loving and purrs constantly when she isn't trashing something pretty that belongs to the family.  Take the story we heard on FB not a month ago about how Tilly was munching on a beautiful heart made of Hops.  She has a nibble here and there when the fancy takes her.  It must feel good crumbling in her mouth.  Makes me wonder if it had any calming effects on her as she was reported sleeping later on like a log!  I would suggest hanging that Hops Heart a tad higher - make her work for it!  She is a bit of a whirlwind like her sister we hear "I was greeted by the cats after shopping, then Tilly turned into the devil child, climbing on my head, annoying her brother from another mother, knocking my phone, then my iPad off the table.  Knocking my water over and finally stealing my rings. Cor!"    She gets just so excited and has always been a little crazy which was why Momma loved her so much.

Then there was the terrible stress she causes Ms B by stealing jewelry. "Tilly has done the ultimate in the night and taken a very special ring from my table and now I can’t find it and thee the carpet fitter is due."  The carpet man came and went and no ring was found in the bedroom.  "Tilly has just thrown the Ewe and Me’s off the windowsill and is currently looking smug, saying to herself, ‘ Not telling where I put your ring.’ "  This went on for quite some time and finally we hear "Ring found right under the bed in a shoe!".  Are seeing a resemblance here at all at Elly's house?  Tilly is doing well at the shows she is attending and bringing home the ribbons too which is nice for Mrs B as now Tilly can eat those and not her Hopps heart maybe?

Lionel the Mad

Picture
Picture
Lionel is growing fuzz apparently and is becoming quite fluffy in places and rides around on human shoulders and flies around him home like a crazed beast.  He opens the curtains most mornings, swinging on them and climbing right to the top.  We are told "Lionel does a good 'body run'. It takes us by surprise."  I know the one he does, races around and then launches onto his hooman or runs from floor to face purring on the shoulder.  That is a classic Maystar move! I would like to say that I taught them most of these moves and shoulder riding especially.  We used to all climb on ManSlave and chew him and maul him until he took us to the treat cupboard.

Mr & Mrs S tell us "Lionel is utterly delicious, mischievous and hillarious. He does a spectacular vertical jump when he has been waiting to ambush you around a corner. He is super cuddly in the mornings and purrs very loudly."   We haven't had any reports of him stealing jewelry but the comment 'mischievous & hillarious' might give those types of behaviours away to the onlooker.  I can imagine he is quite the antic player and we know he is very loved and NOT for the children - and ADULT ONLY CAT we have been informed. Although, he does get on with everyone he meets and is very confident and sociable around everyone.

I am still away, that's why I am doing updates about everyone because, basically, if I am not home - the place is dead and dull without me!  Nothing bad happens, nothing is broken or stolen or eaten or hidden.  Pearl is busy with the 5 boys, who are growing so fast and I am missing them all terribly.  I love kittens and they will need me.  My body has declined being in call whilst I am away.  I am a pest.  Momma sent a food parcel out for me so I don't outstay my welcome with my boyfriend. Faith is loving having Momma all to herself without me thwakking her on her face to move.  Lillibet and Flaire are still in a love of war they are always in. The love hate relationship.  Much thwakking and chasing.  Momma is going to give her a pill to stop her having a call and that should help a little bit.  But with me gone, Top cat status is being fought for and when I get back there will be a huge bust up I am sure.  Not with Pearl though, I love her dearly and she will always be bottom cat even with a litter of kittens!

I shall take my leave now - I have nothing to report only that my view is of boys boys boys and do i want one when I can? Nope. They don't turn me on at all once I am in their company - maybe I prefer ladies?

Bye for now, your loyal Queen Vee =^..^=

LIVING THE DREAM

Six years ago  right up until two years ago to the date, we had so much sorrow at Maystar HQ.  It seemed never to end with kitten after kitten passing away and adult cats dying at a young age.  It was such a dreadful few years that we just couldn't see a way out of it at all until we were saved by our lovely friends at Esperanza who trusted us with the delicious Gracie (ESPERANZA ANNE OF MAYSTAR) and also the help and support from Peppadora Palaces with the use of her boys.  It changed the way we did things here at Maystar and we are always greatful for such leg ups.   Recently, we have formed an alliance with Whimzeerex creating a delicious boy in Otta (WHIMZEEREX MINISTER OF MAYSTAR) and we hope to work together to form an Otta-Line for the health of our catteries in the future.  So far over the last 3 years we have done matings with zero coefficiency over 10 generations - it sure is working for the health of our little ones.  The looks will come.  That is not a worry right now.  Winning at shows isn't as important as the health of our babies.

I am being quite the pest when it comes to getting jiggy with it and Whimzeerex have loved and cared for me in such a manner that I am used to that it feels like when I visit my mate Otta, it feels more like a fun Hollibobs.  None of us are sure if Otta is working yet or am I broken in the lady department?  So I have had to take a trip to Peppadora Palaces just to try a different way and sure enough, right on queue, I strolled in , raging with horemones and just like a switch, I went off call AGAIN!  So now I am trapped up in Yorkshire until I do something a bit more than bug hunt with my new mate there.  I feel a little sad because I wanted Otta babies first, but it is not to be and some other little hussy will take my place and have Ottalings instead of me.

Whilst I am up here in da north, the family are loving life without me as I was piddling everywhere and stuck in a weird cycle of hormones.  Faith is loving it because she gets more of Momma with out me pushing in and Lillibet too is having more snuggles.  Pearl is missing me though, I can tell, she is happy with her MiniCats for sure, but looks for me quite a bit and Flaire, who is on a 'hate rage' about Pearl again, is missing me too, crying at night because her bed buddy is gone.  I have good company here, my new beau is nice to me and I let him sit on his towel and chat to me.  We catch bugs at night together, then by morning he is removed to his own quarters so we can both get good sleep and rest.  Momma calls it 'prickteasing'. I will let you know if it works?

The Minicats are growing strong and are fat and glossy. weighing in at 450g plus at four weeks old.  They are all so funny and busy.  I am missing them growing up and was looking forward to supporting them as they play for the first time, but alas, I may not even like them when I get home if the preggers hormones kick in - self presevation you know!  Pearl is an excellent Mummy cat and just dotes on those little men.  I mean, who has 5 boys??  We are an all girl family now - how did this happen?  To date there have only been 6 boys and a 12 girls in the last few years - girls rule OK!  They are going to be so much fun and look quite cute really.  The little on, Prince Wiggy, is a real fighter and is now level pegging with his brothers.  He is a wildling too - we shall have to watch him closely that's furr sure.

Momma is in a perpetual feeding motion and it is currently only 3 times a day, but she feels they are ready soon for 4 meals a day.  However, Pearl has lots of milky, so it doesn't hurt that she feeds them until a good six weeks before Momma ups the food intake.  They have raw meat patty in the mornings and then a quicky lunch of milky rice meat.  This fills them up until late evening 8 to 9pm where a further raw meal takes them through the night time.  They are all very well behaved and none like getting their feet wet, so they sit happily around the flat tray munching away.  Momma helps the odd few that get tired lickers.  Everyone must eat their fill, it's a long night.  They are awake at 3am and then at 5.30am - Momma beggs Pearls to let her sleep in until 7am. They are all good, but if Momma yawns - that's it... mew mew mew. the stand wobbling and holding paws up to be lifted out and kissed and of course weighed and fed.

It is all go everywhere and I try to keep you all up to date with what goes on here the best I can as this week is a bit 3rd pawed due to me being away.  I   still have a good grip of what goes on however, and do miss Momma's kisses as I know she misses mine dreadfully, like a part of her is missing.  She focuses in on me and we touch noses in our sleep and connect for remote love.

Bye for now from Yorkshire and hope everyone is enjoying this fine mild weather we are having.  Your loyal Queen Vee.

    QUEEN VEE

    OFFICIAL BLOG SPOT
Since 2012 King Slinky has written and devoted his life to his loyal subjects, but with his passing in October 2016 someone had to be successor to the crown.

The position now falls to Queen Vee.  She is now the reining 'blog' monarch here at Maystar HQ.

Vee lives with her  Sister Flaire, her great great grandaughter, Gazoo she is also great Aunt to SaBreena, friends with Faith and Lillibet and distant second cousin Mae.  We also have reigning Kings Elton & Eros who are related to each other but not the queens.
