SHELF LIFE

My poor big Sister Flaire, she is due to bring new life into the world any day now and today she just can't get comfy at all.  It's all crying at the door if Momma leaves and wailing after Momma leaves and if ManSlave visits she can't control her wiggly belly.  She looks uncomfortable and just can't chose a place to lay. It's either in the Kitten hut on the bed, or Momma's pillow or the floor or now... the book shelf. She is up and down and in and out and seems to be wandering about in utter frustration and is laying on one side more than the other and has squirmers in there ready to break out.  Set them free Flaire, let them take their first breaths of this new life they are about to embark on.

When she is not laying about trying to get comfy she is scrabbling about in the kitten hut, digging up all the bedding and making a right pile.  Then Momma sorts it all again for the next go.  All night long she dug up this and that and then lays woefully staring into midair with her eyes half closed.  Her breathing is a little more laboured than usual but not distressed, just tired already and it hasn't even really begun yet. Momma keeps a close eye on her now for any sings of it all really kicking off and podding to commence.  No doubt it will be in the middle of the night. No good for me, I will be tucked up in the House of Fun with Mum Grace and Purple Eddie.  We have a new cat post, it's all very plush, so our sleep is much deeper. Nope, i wouldn't be any good at all. So it's down to Momma to be on high alert.

The Flairelings will be making their way down to the nearest exit, I wonder if they have direction lights like an aircraft?  Some don't want to leave and turn around trying to head back in, these are the breach babies.  In Maystars experience, only one baby was born head first and that was Jamie (Maystarex Jacobean Jester) He wanted out and couldn't wait to meet his new Momma, where as Jazmin (Maystarex Tudor Tapestry) was happy to head back in - in fact Momma remembers her doing the 'hokey-pokey' as she decided which foot would come out first and then a tail arrived and both feet and bam...  But why do we all want to stay in there when there is so much fun to be had out here?  But I guess we don't know that when we are inside.  Mmm food for thought.  When I have babies one day, I am going to tell them it's all ok and head first is easier for Momma to deal with!

So the waiting goes on and on and nothing changes hour after hour and we all play on and go about our business whilst the full Flaire struggles with her discomfort and won't let anyone touch her, she is far too sensitive for anything like that and won't let ManSlave listen to the babies or feel them move, nope, this is all going to be top secret.  So we watch from a distance her ripples moving and flicking as the babies decide whether or not they will be feet first for this world of dive in head first?  Whatever they do and whenever they appear they are sure to be just perfect in every way.  There are lots of folks waiting for their new baby too, so she had better get a move on!

Lots of love from Vee =^..^=

WASN'T US!

We have a poltergeist in our midst.  I mean, how else can the House of Fun be turned upside down whilst we slept?  I swear, I was sleeping, eyes shut tightly, dreaming of playing on the new cat tree that Momma has ordered for us. (Shhh, don't tell ManSlave!)  I can't say exactly what it was that disturbed my sleep, but it was distinclty purple in colour.  The entity moved swiftly and with smooth technique opened the cupboard door, the one that is really out of bounds too, the one that contains all the clean stuff!

Once the door was open we were all awake and I was first onto the top shelf, this is my special quick technique that I put into practice when Momma changes our bedding daily.  I then kick with hind leggies and 'bam' all the lovely clean washed bedding is deposited onto the floor.  Then as quick as lightening I am in it and under it and rolling about.  Eddie is quickly into the bottom shelf to steal a whole roll of kitchen towel, he takes it , dragging his kill between his long front legs to the back of the room where he dispatches the creature with swift action.   Then he prepares to shred it's outer coat and bite through to the inner cardboard tube.  It must feel so nice since he is teething and being a bit of a nibbler!  I have wholloped him a hundred or more times and spat right in his face at his continuous nibbling and Mum Gracie has also held him down by his scruff to warn him that biting hard is not an option especially with 'werewolf teefs'.  He has a right 'Gob Full' as he tells me in his Broad Yorkshire accent, if he nibbles me one more time I shall give him a gobfull of my right paw! Everyone thinks I am the sweetest of natures, but I am real tomboy and like a good scrap, but at any point I can also play 'the lady card' too!

Mum Gracie sits and watches us with our finds and she begins to feel a bit racey Gracie and starts to run around the cat house, she then pounces on me and I squeal and bite her paws through the bedding, it's fun. She pounds away trying to shake me lose and we play fight in the bedding and enjoy the softness on the usually cold hard floor and Mum purrs then, moulding her paws into the soft blankies.  I think we need a rug and now we are not being sicky anymore, I think we deserve one or two!! Make it a real home whilst we recover.   Momma lays on the floor with us at night time and we pounce on her, so a ruggy might be nice for her too?

Mum Grace finds the cat treats, I don't like them much, ducky ones or fishy ones.  I don't really 'do' kibble either, I am a picky soul, preferring my soft foods.  But Mum & Eddie are in those packets like a drug and they bite and chew their way in and have a fight and a squabble about who gets what.  Mum Grace growls at him and gives him a sharp thwak on his head, he circles around her trying to get a look in, she turns her shoulder and covers the snax.  He is fed up of trying, he gets bored easily, if he can't thug his way in, he goes off to find something else. He may be massive and as tall as a litter box, but he is also a big softee too and a bit of a push over.  He found the pollock treats instead and took them to the heated bed to open, leaving crumbs and bits everywhere in his haste to scoff the lot.  Pfft. I don't get anything like that.  Maybe I should try a ducky treat?  Sniff... sniff... lick...shake head... step back...shake head...step over ducky treat and try to cover with midair... walk away on tiptoes..YUCK, they smell like... well POOH!

Why couldn't the ghost open the food cupboard? I could have chewed my way through some grain free turkey, or even the rabbit pouches or fight my way into duck pate. But no, no one  got into the very important cupboard and after this little debarcle, ManSlave suggested child locks... like that's going to stop Purple Eddie, I mean the poltergeist, from breaking in?  We can't get into the litter one, it has a different system on the doors which is a rel shame because this is where all the good toys are kept too.  The butterfly thingie and the flying birsdy feathery thingie and a fishing pole thingie and the one with bells on that sends me whacky and the feather on a pole that makes Eddies head nearly fall off when Momma waggles it!  Why oh why couldn't we get into THAT cupboard...? I mean the ghost, not us. Nope it wasn't us at all. We were sound asleep dreaming of lovely things.  Pfft, I can't believe you even think it might be us... really ... we are angels sent from heaven, sweet as the day is young... with a sprinkling of the KS naughtiness in there and anyway - it is called The House of Fun. Rise above it! Nod.

Love from Vikori Vee xx

A LITTLE CATCH UP

8/1/2017

So many things have happened since we moved into the House of Fun and time doesn't stand still, it zooms on and on a bit like Purple Eddie!  He is one super fast cat and just wait until it's a bit warmer and we can run around outside in the cat pod, it will be just wonderful.

The other thing that time doesn't stop is that of growing up and someone who has grown up particularly fast is my Sister Flaire.  She is growing around her middle and will soon be having kittens of her own.  One minute she is staying with her new beau and the next minute she is totally stuffed full of small catletts.
Picture
Flaire came home and was immediately being very protective of her new inside family, so she is still living in with Momma and ManSlave at night.  She only has a few weeks to go now and is very calm and loving. Or so Momma tells me.  She certainly isn't sweet with any one else in the house.  Pfft.  I do miss her very much though and I am sure once her little family is here and a little bigger, I hope to sneak in and be with them, like she did with me when I was tiny.  I know she will mellow soon - I just know it!
Picture
Momma made her a special covered bed, with new blankies and she must have her Ratty wherever she goes, so Ratty is staying in her house as well.  I wonder if Ratty will help with the birth?  If Ratty goes missing she cries and cries until he is found. Such a Queen Bee that one!  I am much the same, spoilt rotten.  I wriggle and twist and hate being cuddled, I try to escape all the time from cuddling, but wait until a Parental sits down and I am there in a flash - I guess I am a lap cat, not a snuggle bum.  Momma does not know how this happens as we have lots of fuss and attention as kittens and she so wants a snuggly one like King Slinky, but no one will cuddle up with her, well except my Mum, Gracie, she is always cuddly, but since we have all been out in the House of Fun, she is more kissy kissy with Eddie & I than Momma!  She is in 'mummy' mode and can't stop thinking about what we are up to.  It is not to say that she isn't very affectionate with Momma, but her 'brain' is on us!

To be fair, I am not surprised Mum is always watching Eddie & I, we are little Devils.  We climb up Momma's legs and leap onto her back like tree squirrels, racing around her body chasing each other - if we are not doing this we are running as fast as we can around the House of Fun and tipping and knocking all the toys over, squeaking and yipping at every turn.  We have lots of toys and Momma rotates them daily and also makes a new toy for us every day too.  Sometimes we get a box with holes in it filled with tissue paper and treats and we have to poke our feet in to get the treats or in my case... the tissue paper! Boy is tissue paper wonderful stuff, much better than treats in my opinion.  Eddie is the fastest paw in the west when it comes to empying out those treats and Mum Grace stands behind him pinching them as he hooks them out, he still has no idea where they go? MOL - It's hillarious.

Well, that is a little catch up for you all and I will try my very best to get into this blog stuff. Momma really needs to make sure the WiFi is properly working in our home before I can log on regularly.  Problem is, when she visits, she brings a movie and we all snuggle down to watch that instead of blogging!

Lots of love from Vee =^..^=

    QUEEN VEE

    OFFICIAL BLOG SPOT
Since 2012 King Slinky has written and devoted his life to his loyal subjects, but with his passing in October 2016 someone had to be successor to the crown.

The position now falls to Queen Vee.  She is now the reining 'blog' monarch here at Maystar HQ.

Vee lives with her  Sister Flaire, Niece Pearl and is great Aunt to SaBreena.  She is Grandmother to Robyn and friends with Faith and distant cousin Fillycat.  We also have reigning Kings Ikon & Magnus Rex.
