Picture
Name:  CH MAYSTAREX QUEEN-OF-PRUSSIA
DOB:  26th August 2018

Colour: Chocolate Tabby
Parents: Viktori & Barry White
Tyga is a one in a million cat and she is a huge loss to the breeding programme. However, not everyone can stay when you are working to a plan and the house is full.  She was also very young and still a real kitten and easy to home. and what a home she has with her new best friend, Scarlett. Now we are in lock down, they are making a wonderful friendship and Tyga has the one on one attention she craves so much.  She has a million purrs to give away and a thousand hugs and kisses.  She is every owners dream and a stunning show cat to boot!

NAMING HISTORY: Tyga was names after
Victoria, Princess Royal who became the German Empress and Queen of Prussia as the wife of German Emperor Frederick III. She was the eldest child of Queen Victoria & Albert  (Viktori being her Mother here)

Picture
Bruno at ONE YEAR
Name:  MAYSTAREX LORD-ERSKINE
DOB:  29th January 2020

Colour: Seal Tonkinese Point
Parents: Flaire & Ikon

Bruno was a one in a million baby, he reminded us so much of Lionel from Flairelings 2018 litter.  He is funny, quirky, crazy, full of gusto.  His new family came to collect him under strict Covid-19 rules.  It was hard for everyone not to hug and kiss.  Bruno has taken his new home well and purred continually for his new family and at home has a big sister in the form of Tootsie from another breeder.

NAMING HISTORY: Bruno was named after John Erskine a Scottish lord who played a major role in deposing Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots (reigned 1542–67), and gaining the crown for her infant son James VI
Bruno is the joy of the family, he is bright like a sunflower in full bloom and his coat is now very chanille-like: stylish, silky-velvet and curled to perfection. He is my soul-healer!!! I am greatful to you beyond karma and infinity for allowing me to adopt him.   Dr Annamaria Motrescu-Mayes

Plum at One Year
Name:  MAYSTAREX LADY-SETON
DOB:  29th January 2020

Colour: Seal Tortie Point & White
Parents: Flaire & Ikon

Plum Pudding albeit a tortie had to be the sweetest natured baby we have had in awhile. She was a little more reserved that her brothers and reserved judgement on every detail in her life and then she met her new family in Bath and she came alive, and sticks to Lynne like a limpet helping out in the Art studio and entertaining her big cousin Figgy Pudding (Pearling 2018)
We all loved her so much whilst she was here. Full of beans and so loving.

Naming History: Plum Pudding was named  after Mary Seton was a Scottish courtier and later a nun. She was one of the four attendants of Mary Queen of Scots known as the Four Marys. (Flaire is named Queen of Scots)
Plum is just SO lovely and adores Figgy and he loves her, but can get a bit grumpy!!  Also, she is so wonderfully gooey with me.  She gets into the teacosy every morning and makes us laugh.  Lynn Roche from the Bath Painting School

KitKat at a YEAR OLD
Name:  MAYSTAREX MAYOR BARTON
DOB:  9th December 2019

Colour: Black
Parents: Tyga & Bonja (Cattery Destiny's Gift)

KitKat is the funniest little man.  He is very noisy and squeaky especially at meal times. His new family already have Rolo (MAYSTAREX SIRWALTER RILEY) from Pearls litter in 2018, so they already knew what they were in for with a new pal for Rolo.  They are one of my favourite families and we were honoured they came back to Maystar for a new baby.

NAMING HISTORY:  We named this little man after Henry Barton who was twice Lord Mayor of London c1400.  The name was important for the family matching their surname.
Rolo and KitKat are getting along a lot better now.  Totally different personalities, Rolo is very gentle and aloof and KitKat is very naughty and runs around like a whirlwind, but is more cuddlier than Rolo.  We love them both to bits" Julie  Barton

DOB:  26th August 2019

Colour: Black Girl & Red bicolour Boy
Parents: Pearl & Bonja (Cattery Destiny's Gift)

Tina and Rambo were born together by C-Section and were two of four babies born two days apart and they always seemed to stick together so we chose for them to stay together for this special family who waited months on the waiting list and being their first kittens, the Miles family had lots of questions and came to visit and play with them when they were a few weeks old.

Naming History:  The litter was named after Mercian connections. Rambo was named after Æthelred II, known as the Unready, was King of the English from 978 to 1013 and again from 1014 until his death.  Tina was named after Æthelflæd ( c. 870 – 12 June 918) ruled Mercia in the English Midlands from 911 until her death. She was the eldest daughter of Alfred the Great, king of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex.

So proud of this sweet and funny girl.

Missy is a very well adjusted intelligent young lady. Her curls have really come through in the last few weeks and her tummy is so kissable.  She makes me laugh every day.  She is determined and comical but on the flip side very cuddly when she wants to be.  Lizzy Quinlan

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX PRINCESS BATTENBERG
DOB:   26th August 2018

Colour: Green Eyed White
Parents: Viktori & Barry

This little kitten had a strange start in life.  She went to her new home only to be returned 3 months later.  Even though the owner was really lovely, the environment was not suitable for the kitten and we collected her and re-homed her with the Brown family who already have Floki from 2015 and Astrid from 2017 -completing an all girl pride.

NAMING HISTORY :- Princess Beatrice of the United Kingdom,  Beatrice later Princess Henry of Battenberg  14 April 1857 – 26 October 1944) was the fifth daughter and youngest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
Maystar have given us a 'door Goblin'. Freja is forever on top of a door scaring everyone, then her other trick is sitting in the sink and scaring people. She gets worse every day and always needs attention.  She is very loving and a little fooker all at once.  Russell Brown

LIONEL

Picture
Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX COEUR DELION
DOB:   10th November 2017

Colour: Chocolate Smoke
Parents: Flaire & Barry

The Shillingford family were very excited to have their first Devon Rex after Martin had one as a child and loved her character and fun personality.  They certainly have their hands full with Lionel, he is a real wizz kid and sits aloft their shoulders and eats them out of house and home.  The family are exceptionally happy with him and just love his naughty ways.  Just as well!!!

NAMING HISTORY:- Lionel was named after Richard the Lion Heart (Richard I) He also ruled as Duke of Normandy giving this French connection to the litter as Barry originated from France so we thought the theme would be fun.

TILLY TICKLE

Picture
Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX DAME D'ANGLAISE
DOB:   10th November 2017

Colour: Odd Eyed White
Parents: Flaire & Barry

Originally, Tilly was going to stay at Maystar but unfortunately she was deaf in one ear after her hearing BAER test.  So I contacted Denise who had already fallen in love with her in photographs.  Tilly has filled a void in Denise's life from a loss of a pussy cat and will go on and show Tilly as she is of lovely type and great personality.  She is a little cuddle puss and a bit of a madam at shows.  Tilly is a Premier Show Girl.

NAMING HISTORY:- Tilly was named after Queen Matilda, Lady of the English or Empress Maud. Eldest daughter to Henry I of England.  Matilda was called to Normandy to marry Geoffrey of Anjou.

Elly has gone over to Holland to be with margaret from Kallistra Cattery and her family.  Margaret is going to line test Elly (as well as her being a devoted pet owner) to test for health of our lines combined with hers.  We wish Margaret all the very best and look forward to hearing how Elly gets on.  Currently, we hear that she is nicknamed 'The White Ghost of Coventry' and constantly pounces on her half Brother Fred and steals all the bed space!

NAMING HISTORY:- .Elly was named after Elanor of Aquitaine who was queen consort of France and England in the 12th Century.  She was also Duchess in her own right.

MAISIE

Colour: Lilac Calico
Parents: Flaire & Brian

Young Hagan is a 'cat whisperer' and he has now a 'partner in crime' to play with as his Daddy describes.  Maisie will hopefully go on and be a show kitten?  She has beautiful type and hopefully they will all enjoy showing her?  She is fun loving, purrs continuously and is super cuddly.  Loves to look down the loo and shred the odd toilet roll!

NAMING HISTORY:- .
The Catcheside family have been very excited waiting for their new baby Maisie. They chose her name from the Scottish Lady Margaret Beaufort. Paternal Grandmother of Henry VIII. Linking the litter together.

ASTRID

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX MAIDOV NORWAY
DOB:   22ND January 2017

Colour: Lilac Tortie
Parents: Flaire & Brian

The Brown family chose Astrid their second Maystar kitten. Last year they had Floki.  So this year a new baby was born and along came her Viking name.  Astrid is a kind and sweet kitten who is full of love and purrs. She is very humanised and enjoys cuddles. There are fights already between the 4 grown men as to WHO she is going to sleep with at night time!

NAMING HISTORY:- Astrid is one of the 'Shield Maidens' in 'Vikings' and Maid of Norway, Margaret, ruled Scotland in the 13th Century. Astrids Mother is 'Maystarex Queen of Scots' so the names are all linked.
Picture
Astrid has been taken under Floki's wing. She loves her.  Except Nic, she is faulty and orange.  Crazy little whirlwind.  Thanks for another crazy Maystar - Russell Brown

PANDORA

Picture
Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX ANNAVON KLEEVE
DOB:   22ND January 2017

Colour: Chocolate Calico
Parents: Flaire & Brian

Mrs Stevenson waited for a special kitten from Flaire and even had a list of names that may suit her prospective kitten.

Pandora fits in very well with her new owner and little dog Phoebe. She is very loving and generous little soul who loves to cuddle and purr and sits with her new Mummy and watches TV.  Enjoys looking outside at the birds and riding around on shoulders.

NAMING HISTORY:- Pandora was a tricky name to wield a medieval name from so I went with the style of dresses with the huge sleeves of the same name.  These were worn by the fourth wife of Henry the eighth Anne of Cleves. So we used her German name to go with the elegance of a 'Pandora Sleve'.

SOPHIA

Picture
Name:  PR MAYSTAREX PRINCESS PALATINE
DOB:   23rd September 2015

Colour: Chocolate Smoke neuter
Parents: Grace & Sweep

She is a very special little Princess and lives with 3 other Devon Rex, some adore her and some give her a wide berth.  She is naughty, a climber and a toe biter.  Sophia has been showing and is now Premier Show Girl!

NAMING HISTORY:- The Stewart family wanted to call this little girl "Sophia", so she was named after Sophia of Hanover, Princess of the Palatines.  She became 'heir presumptive' to the crowns of the United Kingdom and was Grandaughter of James VI and I and Anne of the Stewart dynasty.

FLOKI

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX COUNTESS ARRAN
DOB:   23rd September 2015

Colour: Chocolate Smoke & White neuter
Parents: Grace & Sweep

Floki is a real character and a climber and a busy all rounder who is loved very much by her family of four human men and one boy Rex. Being the only girl, she is spoilt rotten and called 'our little princess'

NAMING HISTORY:- The Brown family love all things Vikings. So her name was picked with a particular character in mind, the joker Floki.  Trying to think up a Sunday name that fitted into the theme was a little trickier.  The Isle of Arran became a Viking possession and to this day it is full of Norse names.  Countess of Arran was awarded to Mary Stewart the elder daughter of James II of Scotland, just fitting the theme.
Our little Princess.  We never had a girl cat but now hooked on them.  We need another one Nic - Russell Brown

KEVIN

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX KING EDWARD-V
DOB:   23rd September 2015

Colour: Chocolate Smoke & White neuter
Parents: Grace & Sweep

Kevin lives in an all boy home of 3 boy humans and 6 boy cats. He has become the prime friend of sweet boy Lucca who fell in love with him at 9 weeks old.  We are more than happy supporting this large family with a special Rex for their wonderful son to talk to.

NAMING HISTORY:- The Hallam family had their heart set on a little boy Devon called Kevin.  What can I do with the name Kevin and our themes?  So he became KEV (King Edward V).  Something I thought up at 2am!

JAMIE

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX JACOBEAN JESTER
DOB:   14th September 2012

Colour: Black Smoke neuter
Parents: Faith & Chester

Eva especially wanted a boy Rex names James, so in good medieval style, we chose him a name from the same era as the Jacobites.  He is a very funny cat with lots of play and constantly annoys his Sister who lives with him.  Eva also said that she wanted a loving boy, so I spent lots of time snuggling Jamie for Eva and Ade cuddled Jaz for David.  They are both very loving and adventurous. Half of their year is spent in Ireland and half traveling Europe.

JASMINE

Picture
Name:  MAYSTAREX TUDOR TAPESTRY
DOB:   14th September 2012

Colour: Black Smoke LH Neuter
Parents: Faith & Chester

Jaz was named after her long weaved tapestry like coat.  David and Eva had just lost two elderly Devon Rex and they had been on waiting lists for Devons, but we later learned that breeders were unsure to sell them two cats who would be traveling to Europe every year. We had no qualms with this as they came from Ireland to visit the kittens and for us to meet them and every Friday Eva and the two 'kits' ring us here at Maystar.  The kits want for nothing. Traveling is second nature to them and they rule the roost, especially Jaz, who rides on Davids shoulder even when he drives them all broad.

JAS & JAMIE GO TRAVELING!

Picture
Jaz and Jamie from Faith's 2012 litter,Lillibet's brother & sister, took the ferry across to France in 2013 to spend time in their 'Summer Home'.  During the winter they live in Cobh, Southern Ireland with Eva & David, their doting humans.

In readiness for their trips, they are taken out in the Jeep for rides around the countryside and even down to the beach to get into training for their long drives.  Of course, to get to Ireland they had a pretty long drive as it was and a ferry trip, which they thought was so exciting and the start of some very well traveled kittens!  These two little monsters are so bold and naughty, poor Eva and David are wrapped around their paws.  Each week we get either an email or a phone call to say what terrible things they are doing.  Looks to me like butter wouldn't melt! David often asks 'How much to take them back?' In truth, they are spoiled rotten and have their own way all of the time. Just how they should be!  Ade & I traveled out to Bordeaux for a birthday visit in September 2013 and every other year since we see them for a Birthday Visit.  It was huge amounts of fun to see them both again. It's quite funny to see little habits that Faith taught them both and to see some family resemblances, but in total, they are all so remarkably different from each other.
