MAYSTAR MEWS 2019

TICA Champion

Picture
Ikon has done it again!
Huge thanks must go out to Diana Saunderson from Watchout Birmans and Sarah Walker from Boucles Selkirk Rex for 'running' Ikon at his first TICA show ever.  He was loved by all who met him, judge offered to take him home and then on the Sunday, in the last ring, he gained 4th best cat out of a terrific line up.  DEC 2019

Tygalings Born

Picture
Seven kittens were born to Tyga and Bonja, however, due to size and other factors, we lost four of them within a short time.  Now, we have two strapping boys and a girl to show for it and three is a much more manageable number, especially when we are having to hand feed them all.  Tyga is an excellent mum and I am so proud at how she has handled herself. She has trusted me implicitly.  DEC 2019

Best of the Best for the 5th Time!!!

Picture
Ikon had an unusual day at the CRAOV show this month.  He was in for a Grand but had it with held due to having no stop or cheek width.  He was described earlier in the day by another judge as 'average looking'.  I have always said he is an unoffensive looking boy with a nature second to none who gives cuddles and purrs to anyone.  However, another Judge awarded him the Best of Breed and a further judge put him down for Best of Variety Section 4 Adult so in the end he had rather a good day especially with the competition on the bench at such a lovely well run show.  NOV 2019

Viktori and Ikon went all 'Supreme'

Picture
What a delight these two were at the 2019 SUPREME CAT SHOW 2019.

Viktori was on exhibition only and wowed her small crowds of families that gathered around to watch her perform Hi-Fives and special waves for the cameras. Children and adults alike asked her to 'HI-FIVE' and she obeyed for a small freeze dried snack.

Ikon was a dream to handle in his main event and came home proudly holding aloft his SUPREME rosette and his first GRAND certificate. He was such a good boy all day.

Pearlings Arrive Safely

Picture
Early hours of 1st October two baby minicats were born, then two days later Pearl had to go to the vets for a Csection because her enlarged uterus wasn't contracting enough to get the further few out.  After many false starts with milk drying up, hand feeding for the allotted 20hrs due to missmatched Blood Groups and further hand feeding until Pearl felt well enough and the milk returned.  The little family are now doing well and we have 4 beautiful babies.  3 girls and one boy.   The social media network went crazy sending happy milky thoughts to Pearl which must have worked because it came back with a vengeance!  OCT 2019

Champion Gold Card Status for Tyga & Ikon

Picture
Picture
So very pleased with Tyga and Ikon at the Wyvern Cat CLub show this month.  It will be their last show for a little while as we are expecting kittens from Pearl which will be a busy time.
Both babies did really well and are now, subject to GCCF approval, Champion status and can now have the title in front of their names.  They achieved this is three straight shows, although, there was not much competition in their area and the best of breeds have gone to much more mature adults.
Mostly, we are just proud how they both handle at shows, especially Ikon, who is everyone's pal.  SEPT 2019

Maystar Achieves GCCF Breeder Accreditation Status

Picture
Maystar are proud to announce that we have joined the breeders accreditation scheme designed by the GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy).  We have to adhere to strict code of ethics as well as provide a commitment to our breed through responsible breeding.

Kitten owners will have the opportunity to tell the GCCF what they think about Maystar first hand and these are kept on file and all sales are then monitored by the Governing Council.  SEP 2019

Ikon goes Glamping

Picture
Ikon had his first try out on Hollibobs with Faith & Lillibet, who kept him in check at the caravan.  He was a very good boy, enjoyed the short walks and watching bunnies, birds and kids playing.  He took it all in his stride and we feel he is even braver than he was before.  However, he NEVER shut up!

Lord Darnley takes no.1 kitten

Picture
MAYSTAREX LORD DARNLEY was a tad upset about the smells from the other cats.  However, despite the rough start, he confidently lay looking out of his pen all day and despite his grumblings still took the first place in the boys section.  We are very proud of him and especially to his owner, Elaine, for his presentation and handling.  His coat is really beautiful and he is very happy little man in his new home.  SEPT 2019

Tyga & Ikon share the Challenge

Picture
Picture
Tyga - MAYSTAREX QUEEN-OF-PRUSSIA and Ikon - Icon of Gold Blue Sun *PL were out at the Chester Show supporting Little Lord Darnley.  They were showing under George Godfrey for the first time as adults and George liked Ikon, which is good as he had said on showing him a photograph in March that he was of decent type and good luck.

Now both Tyga and Ikon are on their 2nd Challenge Certificates and came home with the all important GOLD CARDS!   AUG 2019

Little Lord makes his debut

Picture
LD - MAYSTAREX LORD DARNLEY went off to his new home two weeks ago to Elaine & Guy Rees to live with 4 children and a herd of dairy cows and not forgetting Kobi the dog.  They brought him out for his debut show at Chester where he got a cracking first place.  AUG 2019

PRince Wiggy makes silver

Picture
PRince Wiggy - PREMIER MAYSTAREX VICEADMIRAL DRAKE has obtained his first silver certificate for GRAND at the Eastleigh show this weekend.  Huge congratulations to his owner Amanda Donnovan who sends us lots of funny stories on Facebook.   AUG 2019

Lord Darnley has been chosen

Picture
Lord Darnley will be delivered to his new home in near Wrexham in two weeks.  His family came to visit and fell in love with him, even though he was a bit overwhelmed by it all they could see his potential as a fun pet with lots of gusto.  He will have 4 children, a dog and a heard of dairy cows to contend with. as well as two normal sized humans.JULY 2019

Tyga returns to showing

Picture
These are the eyes that tipped Ikon to the Best of Breed at the Eastern Counties show.  Tyga gave this look to the judge and it was instant love.  We are more than thrilled with her return to showing and both Ikon and Tyga have gained their FIRST CHAMPION CERTIFICATES.  JULY 2019

4 Times BOV winner

Picture
Ikon did it again and at a double show, Kensington & Herts,  with a huge double win of his classes against 5 Devon Rex Kittens and then took BEST OF VARIETY KITTEN Section 4 in both shows.
His rosette hall was massive and you couldn't even see him for the haul pinned to his pen.  He charmed everyone yet again.
JUNE 2019

Iconic Ikon

Picture
Ikon attended his second show and again impressed the judges with his calm and relaxed handling and will go to anyone who wants a cuddle.  He again achieved Section 4 Kitten and then had his photos taken by photographer Shirlaine Forrest.  They are really captured his larking about.
JUNE 2019

Floki II wins again

Picture
Huge well done to Floki - MAYSTAREX SPYMASTER WALSINGHAM for his 2nd Premier certificate.  We are very pleased for his owner Amy who takes the time to take him out showing. Well done both. Nearly a PRince!!   MAY 2019

Very poorly pussy cat

Picture
Tyga has had an awful 2 weeks.  It all started after the Bedford show with sickness and upset tummy.  It went on and on. Then she came into call and it made it all worse.  She didn't eat for 6 days and lost 500g.
It has been very stressful getting her well with a week on a drip.     APR 2019

Little Lord at the vets

Picture
Poor wee soul had a strange blockage in his intestines which was relieved with tiny enemas and lots of lactulose. He was still guzzling away but just wasn't right for a few weeks.
APR 2019

A Royal Birth

Picture
Flaire has a new baby boy.  A little lilac dream boat of a boy.

On the scan there were two kittens, but on the day an empty sack and this sweet purple fella were born.
For the first time we don't have to hand feed as both parents the same blood type.
APR 2019

Ikon makes his debut

Picture
Ikon - Icon of Gold Blue Sun *PL went to his fist show and had a super, if cold day out at the Bedford show.

His judges loved him and he trotted home with BEST OF VARIETY KITTEN Section 4 over a huge line up of foreign competition.
So proud how he managed himself too.
APR 2019

Viktori has emergency surgery

Picture
Real shock, Viktori Vee had to have abdominal surgery and emergency neuter after she tore her esophagus from being sick from ulcers and what also turned out to be a closed Pyometra.
We are all devastated and hoping she makes a speedy recovery
APR 2019

Prince Wiggy

Picture
Wiggy - MAYSTAREX VICEADMIRAL DRAKE has gained princeship and is now a PREMIER or known to his pals PRINCE WIGGY!

We are thrilled for his owner Amanda who has kept him in pristine condition for showing and both seem to be enjoying the experience.
MARCH 2019

Ikon arrives from Poland

Picture
After long flights and train journeys, trouble at the French border. We all finally made it home to the UK in good health.

Ikon has come from Blue Sun Cattery near Gdansk and we are pleased to welcome him to the pride.  We have waited seven long years for the right kitten.
MAR 2019

Best of Variety Kitten

Picture
Tyga - MAYSTAREX QUEEN-OF-PRUSSIA had a very exciting day finishing her kitten career on a huge BEST OF VARIETY KITTEN Section 4 and overall beat 13 kittens to the title.

We are very proud of this special little girl.  At each of her shows since December she has taken 1st place against some very strong competition.
FEB 2019

Winner Winner Turkey Dinner!

Picture
Tyga, MAYSTAREX QUEEN-OF-PRUSSIA did it again and was up against some superb kittens and took a fantastic first place again.

Her Judge, George Godfrey, said "
She was so relaxed took it all in her stride. She’s also a well developed girl with super nature"
