SPRING INTO ACTION

Not a lot has happened this week.  Phew, thank heavens I hear you all breathe....  Well, that is all for the good right? Maybe not as it makes for the dullest of Blogs.  I can report, however, that my skin is in tip toppidy top condition. My coat is at the extreme of being groomed to purrfection and I am all but ready to dance the light fantastic on the world stage for you this very day.  I am breathtakingly beautiful and know it.  I kiss Momma and push my happy little face into her hand and smooch her face and make her kiss my fuzzy little head and I mew happily in her arms.  I don't like going on my back but will sit up and be munched about my face and ears.  Oh how I purr.

SaBreena is growing exponentially in the belly department.  Her nips are glowing red and the milk has begun it's descent. Just on Friday night she was chased up the stairs by her own Mother,Pearl, and out popped her pregnancy plug on the stair carpet.  It was a nasty mess that Momma had to clean up and that ManSlave nearly stood in and then gagged!  This does mean that her first stage labour is under way and within a few days everything will kick off.  For now, she is settled and happy popping in and out of her kitten room. Just this morning I commented on how rotund she now looked and she gave me a terrific clout about my noggin for the comment.   Pfft, I was only saying!  These pregnant queens really are tetchy!  She is eating her weight in kibble and has no cravings. She is a picky feeder and subsequently will be hard to keep weigh on we think.

Dear sweet Flaire piddled on the bed.  It was just before ManSlave collected her up in his arms, kissing her and in turn she whispers sweet nothings in his shell like.  He sat on the bed and laid back and she purred and squealed with delight as he caressed her curls and she headbutted his stubbly face and trilled at him.  Someone always has to sleep in the wet spot, right? And, so it was, he rolled right into the freshly wet linen, where the urine just lays on the surface of the bamboo coverlet and soaked into his clothes.  He was FUMING!  He also didn't know that she had done it so was cursing Pearl who was innocently sitting playing goosberry on the bedroom stool.  Momma knows it's not Pearl as she is still only peeing a ten pence piece of wee!  Both of them are outside in Al-CAT-raz due to his girlfriends peeing and Pearl's stress.  They have both been setting upon the gravid SaBreena too so that has earned them to be under lock and key.

Last night, whilst watching a film, my dearest Grand Daughter dared to sleep in my favourite bed by the radiator.  It is toasty warm there and to add to the comfort it is also best when the heated blanket is still in the basket to snooze on top of.  There was Robyn, feet in the air like a dead parrot, body like that of an otter in the eating fish position, eyes tightly shut but listening to every noise. She does suffer from FOMO so I used that to my advantage after trying the obvious of biting her exposed upturned paws.  I sat pondering, huffing and puffing and then I had me a wicked idea... I trotted out into the kitchen and routed through the toy box where right at the bottom I had hidden a yellow spring.  I keep it there in emergency kitchen lockdown as something to do.  I found said spring, announced it loudly, dropped it a few times making the tell tale spring sound on the laminate and then carefully carried it to the lounge rug and gave a holler that I had something mighily special. Just to make it known, I gave it a pat with my paw and Robyn's pixy head appears above the parapet, eyes transfixed on the spring, ears like satellite dishes.  I have her attention - this shouldn't take long...  SIGH, it took FOREVER!!! I tap the spring again, Robyn sits up alert.  We stare hard at each other and I look to the spring and back to Robyn.  Her gaze doesn't move from my eyes.  I glance down again and give the spring a little shove to send my point home.  Her eyes flicker for a second to the spring and back to me.  I pick it up in my mouth and muffle something obscure and she sits up and is really taking note now.  If only I could get her to come to the spring I could have my bed back. Double sigh. She is settling back down and no amount of mewling is shifting her.  She won that one.  I walk aimlessly back to the windowsill, pretending to sniff at this and that, jump up and bite her toes hard and Robyn flips over and clouts me back.  Gone has the respect for your elders - Millenials!

Just to inform you of today's Roast.  It was a little lamb shoulder and Momma smothered it in garlic last night meaning we could even have a taste of it today.  Now that is selfish and CatLine said she was right not to feed us alliums in our diet.  Momma said it was about as close to Veganuary we are going to get! If nothing else it smelled great and I put on 50g just licking the gravy when ManSlave's back was turned.

Keep safe out there people of the world. The dreaded lurgy is lurking everywhere. Be more cat - wash wash wash.

Your loyal Queen Vee =^..^=

THE WEIGHT OF THE MATTER

10/1/2021

Picture
On the second Sunday of the month or there about, we all get a weigh in to check the health of our little bodies.  Some get weighed more than others if there is a medical reason and usually things are picked up very early.  Take for example Pearl and her vitamin B12 deficiency.  She dropped weight like a stone which is alarming, where as someone like myself with my 'water retention and big bones' is finding dieting a little hard.  I can't stop snacking, head constantly in ManSlaves face licking the smallest crumb from his chin. He thinks I love him, pfft, love....  They are starving me you know and CatLine couldn't give a hoot!  As far as weight gain goes, I only have to inhale the scent of a Sunday roast and I have jumped up 100g!

Pearl has been a model patient. Four straight months of Vitamin capsules filled with Cobalamin which were emptied into vitamin paste to disguise it's bitter taste and placed on the roof of her mouth each day.  Some days, usually if Momma is in a hurry, she gets out the poking stick.  The poking stick was borne from us galloping to the top of the cupboards and staring down at Momma. We know full well she will bring a chair over and we cringe back as our dose arrives, but this is no good, the cupboard is a safe place, so Momma devised the Poking Stick.  It's silicone end to a wooden spoon feels yucky on the fur and she has a treat waiting if we jump down to her. So a bit like a carrot stick but with less calories!  Now, when we see the Poking Stick, we jump down to get our treat and unfortunately our medication.  We can be very smart you know and very tricky all at once - no two days are the same and I have a new hiding place under the wine rack, that Poking Stick can't get in there because Momma has to sit on the floor.  I have it all sussed out you know, but she gets me in the end and my Atopica is served and I gag and retch and hunker down and feel sorry for myself for a whole minute.

Swinging briefly back to Pearl.  Her four months were up, bloods revealed she was super dooper high in B12 and a little lacking in Folate, but hardly anything. That's a bit of scale tipping the vet tells us and nothing to fear.  THEN, she went and got cystitis, Pearl not the Vet.  I mean, REALLY!  So now more medication and she is sharing with me at the moment. We are Cystease Sisters! It's great stuff and now she has it topped with a little Metacam that gives you that all over buss and brings your play time back as you don't have any pain and you can wee again in a comfortable manner.  She is better already and Momma will continue to dose her for a further week to make sure it is all gone this time and it will be unless she stresses again over calling!  AGHHHH  Just one more blood test and a pooh screen and she can be mated in Spring time if it is all favourable.

Back to weights.  I have to commend Lillibet for her terrific weight loss.  She is svelte and sleek all over and silky smooth and has some energy again.  Faith is in Momma's bad books she gained the 100g Lillibet lost and has tipped her back into the fat cat marker weight.  She is like me, just has to sniff anything that isn't her diet food and BAM -weight gain.  Filly and Robin are neck and neck and Momma is super chuffed with Robyn as at 10months old she just wasn't gaining any substance as she wouldn't stop suckling Tyga. This in turn just stopped her growing as she needed real food.  Now Tyga is ensconced in her new abode, Robyn has steadily gained an entire kilo and is looking and feeling exceptionally heavy and weighty and now she is 13months old she has visited Magnus - we think unsuccessfully though.  Filly has helped her transition away from her Mum and Filly is now neck and neck and a very big cat and wizzed on a kilo since her arrival.  Remarkable when the dynamics change.

Flaire never really changes weight and keeps a stable 2.8k.  She si super sleek and very muscular.  She too gets extra vitamins each day but enjoys hers and is no trouble at all.  SaBreena really likes vitamin paste, which is great as she has to have lots of it with raspberry leaf each day to aid her up and coming birth.  She has gained a tremendous amount of weight in a month. a whole half a kilo.  That's great news as she is a picky eater and trying to get her to feed the babies inside is tricky. I do hope she eats enough once they are here to feed them.  Although, she is a healthy 3k and the kittens are a good size from the scan last week with good sound throbbing heart beats.

The boys had a bit of a Diet too, Ikon needed to lose a tiny bit as his tummy was swaying and Magnus Rex is a growing boy so he needs the little extras.  They both get vitamin paste each day and Ikon has his eye drops twice a day then a good game of chase the Tigga Towers toy afterwards to shed the pounds whilst Magnus tucks into high calorie raw food as an extra. They are leveling out at around 4.5k and both are very muscular with the exercise on the wheel.

Well, I can feel my hunger pangs returning.  I shall go and see what's in the oven today.  I think ManSlave said he has wrestled a live boar to the ground and carried it home on his shoulders.  I think not ManSlave!! Anyway it Veganuary or some such thing like that?  I hasten to add we are not vegetarian creatures, we are high protein prey monsters and soaking beans and lentils is not as rewarding as catching me a Horrible Horrace or two!  To that end Momma organised us some farmed bunnies for the mincer.  Cruel to all you Vegans out there, but a girl gotta live you know!

All hail Queen Vee  =^..^=

THE BLOGGERS PARADISE

The time between Kissmouse and New Ears comes with it's own nothingness, where the days blur into one and become a melded blended mush of lounging about.  Gone has the energy for toys and frolicking in boxes and paper. The body is tired of it's adventures and sleep is in order to revitalise the senses.

We have not only said good bye to the old year and welcomed in the new year, we have also had the split from the EU and all it holds for us there.  Our food took one whole month to reach us from Germany. Usually, our food and litter is delivered in a fine flurry of 3 days.  But alas, there was a major hold up at the ports and there sat our food, along with everyone's food and gifts for days whilst poor pets went hungry all over the UK. My paw goes out to the drivers. There are no words to express that we don't even treat animals like that!  So, to that end Momma had to order some food from Amazon whose trusty driver delivered the next day.  Alas, My food was still delayed and I had to eat some other stuff made of Rabbit and Beef.  I don't like it, I am well into a bag of the stuff and still I don't like it.  My vet says I can not eat the urinary stuff anymore as it is compromising my allergies. Shame, I really liked that stuff and Momma just ordered a new bag from Germany! Suppose it may come in useful for someones dinner?

I have pushed this food around my bowl and seemingly been put on a diet too, pfft.  Don't see ManSlave on a diet, he frequents the fridge when Momma isn't looking then won't eat his dinner!  I on the other paw, I frequent ManSlave and climb all over him for a nibble of his stolen goods. I am still not eating my diet food and refuse to be entertained by Momma cooing how yummy it is... She sprinkles fishy treats on it to make it more palatable.  YUCK. Fish, rabbit and beef in the same meal - do you think i am desperate?  It is making me more affectionate though. I can't help it, my purr monitor is all off with this hunger that just won't abate. I am finding I am doing tricks and waving my paw at every opportunity to get snack of anything that is better than the cr4p she is serving me!  On the flip side, my allergies have abated too.  If only they would tell my lesser spotted belleh the good news!

ManSlave just came an interrupted us whilst we type this out for you all.  He was taken aback as he didn't know I actually sat with Momma and fed her lines of text via my beautiful and clever eyes. He didn't realise that I do actually impart the words into her brain and she types them out for me.  Well I can't type, how else is a blog to be produced?  Filly has turned up in the office now and fancies a bit of blogging... OK, I shall give her a quick go, she does speak funny.

THE FILLICUS-BLOG
"Alrite me luvves, yer tis, my own blog. Ere, that be rite kind of her.  I am but a sweet maid and talk nothin' of int'rest only bout what I have to say drekly to ye about backalong on Xmas day where I 'ad me some good fossiking and gurt noodling.   The weather was ramshacklum and
lippen so we all played 'ard till dimpsey with our toys. I was rite fess with ma prezzies and shared some with that rite cakey Ikon.  I tried to play with that Pearl but she makes me all jopperty, bewaddled and a-feared, I walk a bit ginger about that one these days. I still did share my lot, coz I is sweet and kind. To that end, ManSlave is peelin' teddies and doin' a proper job. I shall leave ye all pert viddy now for the new 'ears. Gurt luvvins from FillyCat"

Well, my eyes are all a flutter with that lingo. There is certainly a bit of a divide in languages here from Polish to West Country but there it is a taste of the cute little darling and her wonderful funny nature.  She hugs Momma so tightly around the neck if she sits down long enough then bounces off to visit ManSlave in his chair and repeats the process over and over.  She is full of fun and games and never seems to tire out. Then when all is quite in the 'dimpsey' she sleeps a long deep sleep. She is nothing but funny and full of beans or Beetle Juice as Momma calls it on account of her Mother being called Dung Beetle!

As Filly said, manSlave is indeed peeling his teddies so I do will depart to see what is cooking in that majestical of lit ovens today.  We heard, or should that be herd, that ManSlave had acquired a small amount of the bovine sort for our 'gurt' Sunday lunch. I am off to press my sniffer against the glass and meditate on the smell and beg and plead with my paws until they relent and feed me something I want instead of the dried version!

Tootleloo ye all... Your Queen Vee  =^..^=

SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM MDR

Here we are, lounging about after filling our boots with copious amounts of Turkey.  I sat, proud oven watcher, all Xmas morning. I stalked that big bronze beast all the way from fridge to plate including the long thaw outside at one point beating Magnus into a retreat, "It's MINE." I spat.  I could hardly contain myself after the first taste and have harassed ManSlave at every opportunity for a nibble of the white stuff.  At one point I literally climbed all over him and thwakked his hand with my paw until he dropped a tiny bit which I gobbled up like a rabid feline.  Momma then put her paw down and said "Oi, Vik-A-Tori, nuffs nuff love."  I had been told, that was the fun over. Well, until she wasn't around and I had ManSlave dancing about with his arm in the air and me balanced precariously on his shoulder trying to reach a slice. Quite the symbiotic partnership. I am the Devil & him the horse as I beat his hand for sausage and bacon. I give him another kick around the ears - Gawd darn it - JUST DROP THE THING ALREADY ALREADY!

Robyn, Filly and SaBreena had a wonderful time playing with a big green mouse hut adventure toy. It dashed in and out and Robyn bit onto it's tiny body as she preempted it's peepo. She enthusiastically dragged it about the room, it's squeaking driving her bonkers and was pulling away and batting anyone who tried to pinch it.  Robyn poked her feet in and out of the holes and never mastered the fine details of the capture and skipped off to chase a spring.  SaBreena, once left alone with it, was transfixed by the motion, never seeming to pounce, then after a few minutes, she had a pattern in her minds eye and bang - mousie was captured and somewhat devoured, then the machine whisked it away and out of her mouth it flew in the opposite direction, making good it's escape right into the jaws of Robyn!

The floor is still covered in paper three days later.  It's the best time a cat can have, all that rustling and crinkling.  We dash in and out, through and under, up and over, pouncing and stalking each other.  What fun there is to be had with such simplicity.  In amongst the paper there are little fishies that are stuffed with the nip.  GrandMewMew out did her self this year with that little lot! Robyn, Pearl, SaBreena, Flaire and I had an explosive time kicking and biting those fish.  I had a kipper that was so wonderful to give a beating to.  Pearl chose a bright orange carp and off she went for big smooches on it's fat lips.  Flaire had a tiny sardine that just fitted between her paws and Robyn chose a giant trout that she carried up and down the stairs.  Momma said it was like a fishmongers without the smell!

Filly, Ikon and Magnus were fascinated with the Flutterby Toy Santa brought us. I had a good thrash at it, but Magnus was sent dizzzy chasing it round and around.  Silly sausage made himself a tad dizzy and lay there in a Flutterby stupor swaying just a little. Momma put out the new blankies Jaz and Jamie brought them, they are very smart and warm. Lillibet got one too and has snuggled underneath it and not been seen since.  Faith has taken the opportunity to relax on Momma at every second of her sitting down and proudly wearing her adventurine collar. It is rather pretty.  Some of the really lovely and special gifts from Ireland broke in the post.  They were so adorable too, little bowls and sweet jug and teapot. I guess all they might hold now is 'holey' water.  Pfft.

Today is a day to get up and check on the storm damage and to be fair, there is nothing much to report.  The odd piece of wood has moved and bits blown about in the garden.  Most of it was put away last night and the side gate firmly shut and the girls brought in from Al-CAT-Raz, just in case it lost it's roof. Magnus and Ikon slept right through the wind and rain all protected in their toasty house.  They come in for a few hours every day but us CatWomen mustn't be in the kitchen with them for long as Magnus starts to get his jolly on with Filly and she beats him up totally not interested.  She is a minor and just wants to play. Robyn is too transfixed by toys to be lured by his advances and he spends the entire time just sitting quietly staring at her.   He will get his turn soon.  Ikon has no interest in such matters and gives Filly as good as she gives. They do play well.

SaBreena is growing and her belly swelling.  She is now about to embark on her third trimester tomorrow and this is when the fun begins and where she really comes into her own.  She has access to the kitten room any time through the cat flap and can lay and eat and scratch about in the bedding and make nests.  It is a daunting prospect and we are both looking forward to it and dreading it in equal measure.   There are more than fifty enquiries about kittens and over 200 that Momma has disregarded totally as unsuitable. Plus, she will only have a small number in there and there are serious folks waiting.

Right, that's me done, I am off to the kitchen, I can hear that the boys have had their time out and heading back to The House of Fun until later.  So I shall go and check out the luncheon situation as we are sure to get a nibble of day three turkey.  I love Christmas - Turkey EVERYDAY.  What lucky pussers we all are. You can hold the veg though. Don't need any greenery ta everso. You can keep your brussles and your cabbage in favour of a sausage or two... And anyway, Vegetables are so poorly treated, it is a terrible thing, grown int he wild and yanked from their beds to live in tiny boxes and the refrigerated until they can't run away.  It's apaw show that!  These vegans are all very well with their nuts n stuff, but for me, it's Turkey!

WHAT A LOT TO TELL YOU

There has been much in the way of Office catting this week and I have played a very prominent part in that role. I have been chief trimmer and cutter whilst Momma the designer.  We have worked in happy companionship as I am the only one to be trusted with all the ribbons and cutting tools.  I know my job - stay out of the way!  I sleep happily over the heating pipes under the carpet and keep her company.  Occasionally, SaBreena and Filly will visit and liven up the place a bit.  That Fillycat is bonkers, she slithers around Momma's shoulders and onto her head, purring and chirping away. Quite the clown - more than me!  Lillibet and Faith have chosen that the Office is too busy and taken to sleeping on top of the fridge.  This is good news for Lillibet, feeling happier to leave the safety of there as well as with Tyga, her nemesis, leaving home has given Lillibet freedom to walk around the house and not be attacked.  The same goes for Flaire and Pearl.  Although, Pearl is trying to take a dominant role by pasting Robyn and chasing SaBreena and Flaire is backing her up.  Robyn, small and mighty, can can fight back and has quite the growl on her.  Pearl peed in SaBreena's kitten room bed, Momma was furious.  She is banished now and both the vile dirty girls will end up in Al-CATraz if they are not careful.  Bad bad kitties... Shhh...don't tell anyone, but  I did pee too!

Picture
SaBreena and Magnus did make babies after all and she has pinked up very nicely and is quite formidable should any of us pounce on her.  She has turned from a crazy outside roaming Squirrel huntress to an indoor sleeping queen.  Exposing her belly to anyone that wants to kiss it.   Magnus is very excited at being a potential father and can not wait to play with his kids and Ikon will be ecstatic as a Grand Dad.  Flaire not so much, she dislikes other cats kittens, well, she hates everyone full stop!  We hope SaBreena grows and makes those babies flourish. She is eating well and gaining a tiny tummy with bright pink nips.  We estimate babies in late January.

Picture
We have little updates from Tyga and a few pictures.  Just a week on and already she has settled well and Scarlett, who is 12yrs old, has taken her under her wing. Each night she goes up to bed with Scarlett and pads away 'making bread' on her tummy and the blankets, then snuggles down to sleep in her arms. Her new Mum, Hayley,  quotes "She is absolutely adorable, we all love her to bits!"  Her Son, Ethan, fell asleep on the sofa stroking Tyga and she just lay her head on his leg and fell asleep too.  It is so wonderful that she has a one on one home to cater for her overly loving nature.  It makes it much easier to know she has so many people to love her and be with her at different times of the day.  Luckily, she is a well trained Office Junior and willingly helps to sort the filing and do some extra hole punching of the important documents.   Who would't love my precious Daughter?  She is just the softest and most beautiful girl, But I am biased!

Picture
I had me a little wee again on the carpet, I knew it was wrong, but my bladder feels tickly. Momma cleaned it up before ManSlave saw it and then blamed the next one on Ikon.  Baahaa. Momma does protect me so well.  She understands my predicament and immediately gave me special tablets to help me feel better.  I think I may have to go and see Vet Hannah again tomorrow as there is definitely something not right inside me and I have had at least three breathing attacks.  It is very frustrating.

Ikon's eye has recovered from it's crash bang and whollop.  He has mended really well and taken the stinging eye drops in his stride, with only once getting a bit angry.  Momma gave him some oral Metacam and tried again a few hours later and he was much happier with that.  He is such a  Drama queen that one.  Thinks like a red head, fire and brimstone then thinks after he has acted and goes all daft and silly.  The news from the vet on his second visit was all great news and his eye won't have any lasting damage.  He is one lucky boy. He has a final check tomorrow as he is still squinting sometimes!

Yesterday, Momma went to see Grand Mew Mew because she had a poorly bladder like me. They swapped a few gifts and it looks like we are getting some snazzy gifts for ourselves. We have been treated right royally by Momma's Sistfurrs.  We can't wait to play with everything, it all looks amazing.  THEN, there was a HUGE package from Jaz & Jamie all the way from Ireland.  We will open it up really soon and put the prezzies under the tree.  There are 10 of them!  So many!!  Last Xmas, Ikon piddled on Momma's gift, so this year, he can have pants on!

I am off now to check out the bright lights of the oven. Today keeping warm in there is a shoulder of lamb. My fave.  The light in the new oven makes it all such a wonderment and I can sit for hours just warming my face and filling my SAD quota for daylight from it's rays.

Off I pop.... Season's Greetings to youz all.

HEART BREAK AND JOLLIES

13/12/2020

It has been another busy week, dishing out Xmas cards and getting things in the post ready to go under people's trees.  Of course, I helped write every card and licked every envelope - it's ok, we are COVID free!  Unfortunately, Momma didn't order enough cards, so some of last years were posted instead... oops!

Tyga was due to leave home on the 10th, but that was cancelled due to contractual disagreements so Momma quickly rang her no2 on the waiting list that would suit Tyga's purrsonality and BINGO, they were still waiting!  Whoop whoop!  Tyga left home this very morning after a good long hours playing in the lounge with her new friend Scarlett who is besotted with her. Who wouldn't be? She is the bestest friend a kid could have!  With everything pink and pretty packed in her matching bag and hearts blankie and a bespoke bowl, she had all a Princess could desire!  I for one will miss beating her up every day when she comes for a kiss and I will think nothing of moving back into bed with Momma now my nemesis of a Daughter has left the building.  Momma was not so sure.  She has been a bit dapms in the eye since her leaving. It sure is hard on the heart when you have to set something free you love so dearly!  Like I say - I benefit, so it's a win win!

On top of that roller coaster ride, Ikon decided he would play combat soldiers with his Son, Magnus, to an end where he has damaged his eye. Luckily, the specialist Optometrist thinks he will make a substantial recovery without any other issues.  I feel we were very lucky!  He was tested, scanned and generally poked and prodded whilst they
decided what had caused the eye to swell.  Luckily for Ikon, it is nothing nasty like a virus or a disease and a plain and simple whakk on the head!  Most likely, we think, from running too fast on the wheel and his Son jumping on it making it stop suddenly and perhaps he took a tumble?  Who knows? Those boys play very rough at times as boys do!  We return to the specialist on Tuesday after administering pain numbing  eye drops to give the poor mite a rest.   Although, when they came in for their cuppa at lunch time today, I was still in the kitchen and he didn't think twice about slapping me and as I dodged him and went to jump onto the cupboard I slipped and fell into the recycling bit...pfft, thought he was meant to be off colour?  Yeah, right...that hurt you mean pig!

That leads me nicely onto the new installment this week 'The Sunday Roast Pork Cooker' except we had chicken today!  ManSlave humped the old cooker out and humped the new cooker into it's nest.  First we had to inspect every inch of the cavity the old one left behind. Licking up all the dust bunnies and choking them down.  Gosh, 18 year old dust is rather tasty.  Mmmm. Robyn was first on the scene and climbed all over ManSlave's back, digging her little feet into his back.  I jumped right in there to investigate - no flies on me! Pearl had a quick nosey and when there was nothing much of interest, she sauntered off, slapping Filly on her way past. "Midget" she called out. Filly cowered "One day i will be big." she retaliated and shut her eyes as a thwak got her smart on the nose for such insolence.  Of course, then,  Filly tried her upmost to sneak under the units and we all envisaged ripping out the kitchen to retrieve her, but up she popped up for air, covered in 19yrs of fluff and grot.  Momma just caught her as she went for a second dive under the units.  Quick silver that one, like handling an oily eel!

Once it was all installed, I begged for the light to be switched on so I could see the dinner cooking and there it was, all shiny and new. My new best friend who warms to 160 degrees in 3 minutes!  Impressive bit of kit!  When Ikon came in today, he stared longingly at that chicken for a good 5 minutes before his poorly eye got tired with the bright light. I carried on his watch enjoying the warmth radiating from it's body.  Do you know, with a light on, you can actually SEE it cooking...so exciting!  Anyone would think it was my Xmas gift!

With twelfth night just past and our Kissmouse tree up, it is time to bid you a good evening.

With all my purry kisses and special thoughts to you all out there.

CHA CHA CHANGES!

The street has gotten all excited at it being December.  We have been watching all the neighbours putting out their lights and decorating their trees in their gardens. It looks very festive if not terribly early.  ManSlave said it would be OK to put our outdoor lights along the roofline top and bottom so that we can glow and shine and make our neighbourhood happy.  The kissmouse tree won't go up for a little while yet and we don't open any cards either until the tree goes up - All those envelopes will be exciting to dash about in.

This week has seen ups and downs with a few changes for us all.  After the Year end was finally done, Momma rewarded us with a new wooden scratch post.  Our older one is still really good but just a little tatty for the house.  We have a shorter, but wider one, with two big beds and a hammock.  It will be safer for the babies when and if any arrive.  It took me just an hour to bagsy the top bunk and I have a neat ensuite cataloo just off to the left for those early morning tinkles.

The older post has been moved out to the House of Fun for the boycats.  Ikon and Magnus like to sleep snuggled up together
and now have extra beds to also get away from one another should they need that too.  They have been very funny when Momma goes out early mornings to clean them out.  She opens the doors and they race in and out come rain or shine, jumping and sliding through the tunnels.  They make the most of the toys before they are put away for the day.  They lay on wet paving stalking birds and then run in at full speed and slide all over the floors with wet feet, yawping and yipping they turn tail, slipping on their butts and they run like cartoon characters trying to gain leverage.  Momma laughs at them as she skips out the litter trays and then has to wash the floors all over again!  Ikon runs so fast on his wheel and is looking more svelte than his sedentary summer lifestyle shape.
Picture
Some of the girls have been over to the HOF to play on the wheel and on Monday, SaBreena was happily watching the Horrible Horraces feeding when Magnus stalked her and chased her relentlessly around where on the highest shelf he pushed her off and there she hung from one single claw dangling in mid air and then her nail ripped out of it's casing and down she tumbled, blood everywhere and him still trying to grab her and she was beating him with the now soggy blood drenched paw all over his cream coat.  When Momma finally caught them both she wasn't quite sure who was bleeding at first.  A quick check of both cats revealed the poor paw!  Rinsed in Leucillin to try and stop any infection.  Despite washing the paw all Monday and Tuesday it started to smell and get a pus build up behind the nail bed, so Momma started her on antibiotics then.  Now at the end of the week and we are making headway with it's recovery.  Momma has to make sure she has used the litter tray before she soaks that paw as the first few times she nipped for a wee and came out with a clay boot on!  Sigh...who does that?

Picture
Before the squabble between Magnus and SaBreena, they had been playing boyfriend and girlfriend with a few funny moments as he tried all sorts of holes to dib his bits into. Ears and noses were the popular choice in the beginning, then, all of a sudden with SaBreena he figured it out and she being a virgin too wasn't sure about standing correctly and rolled about exposing her belly and neck, Magnus sitting on her head.  Then he figured out he could grab her neck and she would trill and quiver all over, twisting in his grasp he kicked and placed her, making low growling noise when she didn't behave and then the magic happened!!  SaBreena was dumbstruck and furious and wouldn't let him near her again THAT HURT!  But as he wooed her over the next three days and waited patiently whilst she was feisty and mean.  He was quiet and waited and pounced when he could and boy is he a champion doer! He really knows his stuff and will be a kind and gentle stud boy.  Now we wait to see if all his hard work and effort will pay off?  Watch this space!

Tyga has a moving date of the 10th, so we are preparing her to leave home, packing her bags and getting all the nasty things out of the way like routine worming.  For three days she has had that nasty Panacur stuff but is super good to administer until this morning when she was wise to the administration and turned her head quickly, bounced out of Momma's arms, spat the white liquid all over Momma, the bed, the carpet, the hall carpet, the stair carpet, the kitchen floor, the stair carpet and finally Momma grabbed her in half flight as she leapt onto the navy bedding, white foam everywhere.  It looks like a flock of Seagulls has visited our house!  Momma only said just yesterday how the carpets need a steam clean.... get on with it then woman, can't procrastinate any more!

Well, besides helping Momma in the office to finish some Christmas gifts that's all that's gone on this week, besides manSlave changing the catflap in the kitchen from an open type to a closed clear door type that is lighter for us and also keeps the freezing cold drafts out in the winter enabling us to play on the floor without freezing our toes off!  Now just to practice using it.  Ironically, Fillycat is the first to master it properly.  She is a fun wee thing and we love having her here.  She is very quirky looking at the moment with long legs and body growing well.  The gangly stage you could say where the face changes to funny shapes.  That's why, often you can't choose a kitten at this age for breeding or showing because the gangles get them and they just look plain odd!  Who cares, she is a treasure to be around and fun to play with, her cute looks will return in a month or so.

The final thing is the plastic wheel has been moved to the CatPod so us girls have somewhere to run.  Pearl, Robyn and SaBreena use it the most and every time it is used it sounds like a train is trundling through the house and makes everyone jump.  How do folks have this type in their homes?  We do miss the lovely wooden one the boys have, but unless Flaire stops widdling on it, we won't be getting one for us to use!

Today is quite exciting because for Momma's Xmas gift, she is getting a new oven and it arrives next week, so ManSlave is cooking the final roast in the old unlit oven.  It's a tiny bit of pork. Enough for just a simple meal.  Not sure there will be enough for a nibble later?  Pfft.  Never mind, I shall survey the goings on from the fridge bed.

Have a lovely bright and cheery day despite the gray stuff outside.

STRESSED TO THE HILT

IIt has been an incredibly busy week here at Maystar HQ.  Year end is nearly finished so time in the office is less and less, although Momma has sold a few things so we have been playing in the boxes and wrappings and crimping the edges of things before they leave the office.

Last week I was piddling everywhere again and holding my wee inside for a day or more.  I had a terrible accident and couldn't hold it in anymore and spilled myself all over the stair carpet and finally came to rest in the hallway and then again under the chair.  ManSlave dashed out and stood in my piddle in his socks.  I hid myself feeling terribly guilty whilst ManSlave ranted about how disgusting it was.  Momma was there to my aid, saving me from a telling off and was sucking up my widdle into a sterile syringe and into a jam jar, minus the jam!  This was whisked off to the vets for crystal testing and it was negative...hoorah.  So, why am I widdling?  Well, it's stress. So, Momma had to give me a loading dose of Cystease and remove my stress triggers.  Easier said than done.

So, to the stress triggers.  Here they are. Tyga is no.1 with her incessant need to be around Momma 24/7.  She has taken over my bed spot next to Momma's head and I am sleeping curled up, shivering in a kitten bed and should anyone try to touch me I snarl at them, then Tyga wants my love, squeaking like a sick kitten, PFFT.  Then closely follow that with Ikon and his thumping me and launching himself on me, and tripping me up all the time.  Couple that with his son, Magnus, and his raging hormones, I just can't cope.  In some ways I think I echo Momma's feelings on the whole subject of stinky boy cats strutting their smell in our home!  So, I have been relegated to the kitchen at night with Flaire and Pearl, who are also very stressed with the whole boy thing.  Flaire and Pearl have been given the cat pill which has calmed them down too and all three of us are enjoying our quiet evening sleeping in comfy beds and not being harassed in the early hours by youngans.

The stinky boys spent a few nights out in the House of Fun which gave everyone a break too, including them and they love running on the wheel and they too have slept all night.  Tyga, SaBreena, Robyn and Filly are in bed with Momma, only she is awake at all hours with Filly licking her eyelashes and nibbling her nose, pressing her body over her throat and washing her chin and purring so loudly that the night is alive with her rumble.  SaBreena then sneaks into bed and lays tightly to Momma's side, grumbling at anyone who tries to wash her and also purring like a train.  Tyga, still in her KittyTitty jacket, is snuggled in tightly under her arm, where I used to sleep btw, and so too is rumbling away.   Robyn sleeps long and thin, stretched out like drying leather at her knees and any movement starts a purrfest.  Pinned down and gasping for a drink in a vibrating bed, Momma lays there heating up and burning all over from roasting fuzzy purring bodies.  Then early morning brings a lone Robyn the need to be higher up and stands squarely on her bladder and that's the final straw....Hot, thirsty and bothered, Momma bumbles to the bathroom with her entourage.  Filly the torch barer and guide cat, skipping about with excitement. Robyn the tripper upper, making sure Momma's feet don't stand on our toys, SaBreena stands in the sink purring so Momma knows where she is and Tyga is the great loo inspector, peering down waiting for the water to run.  She has always been daft and is then joined by Robyn. They stand side by side, paws over the seat with expectant faces, the lid is soft close, they have 30seconds of fun!  Momma removes SaBreena from the sink to wash her hands and get a much needed drink and Filly is there to guide her back to bed, galloping ahead onto the bed causing static to light up the darkness and back to bed they all go.  There was no wonder I was stressed with all that going on every night!

Ikon and Magnus are out in the house of fun permanently now and are coping very well.  It has been a long slow progress putting them out for a few hours a day, then once Ikon couldn't stop marking his territory and making our home stinky.  But once in the HOF neither of them mark at all.  Well, OK, Ikon did on day one and two then never again. I haven't been over the skybridge since unlike SaBreena and Robyn, who venture over there regularly.  The doors are opened and closed behind them and off they trot to play on the wheel or watch squirrels.  They tell those feisty boys off if they try and rude stuff! They are there to enjoy themselves, not be raped!

Because the boys now have the HOF and the older ladies like to have a run on the wheel, Momma invested in a cheapie plastic one that other wheel manufacturers moan about. Well, I can tell you that the One Fast Cat wheel is fine for outside use and us girls love it.  Pearl sets off on a jog to nowhere and away it trundles like a train, vibrating the decking and scaring all the mousies that live under there away.  She trots on there when she has the need for some escape time. I am much happier too, playing more with my toys again with no big lump coming to pound me into the ground.  Tyga has even been playing fetch again and Lillibet is venturing from the office a bit more too.   The boys have lots to entertain them and often come in the kitchen for some inside time as well as a good belt around the garden.  It is important they don't get too bored or over excited and over stimulated as this can lead to anxious yawping when locked up.  better calm and fun things to keep them active and tire them out.  What tired Magnus out yesterday was escaping the catflap at 5am out into the frosty morning. Shivering, he lay in the heated outside bed yelling for anyone that might help him. He was most upset when Momma went out at 7am and screaming his annoyance, he pointed to the catflap and said "Broken". walked off in a cross legged huff and dashed for the cat tray for a much needed wee. His ears took two hours to defrost, his face took longer!  His Dad Thwakked him and told him off for being so stooopid and he was never to attack the cat flap again.

There is one sad subject to touch on too this week, our Uncle Paul has passed away quite unexpectedly.  He had a bad fall and that was that. Game over.  He was so lovely with us all when he was fit and well.  He cared for us and visited so often when Momma had her spine surgery.  He looked after us at hollibob time and although not related to us at all, King Slinky gave him the royal title of 'Uncle' and it stuck.  When UP went to hospital, KS followers sent messages of good health to him and made him feel very humble and he never forgot that.  He said it made him a nicer person to believe all those folks cared so much.  Now he is gone to be with King Slinky and TomFun. Rest in Peace old friend.

To that end, we are celebrating his life with a lovely piece of Welsh lamb. It was one of his favourite meats and with not being able to eat anything solid these last few months, he said just on Tuesday, how much he missed his juicy lamb.  ManSlave has bound it in garlic and rosemary and it slowly roasts away.  I can just see it if I squint into the darkness of the oven.  Ikon, Magnus and Flaire all got a sliver and I got nuffin.  NUFFIN I tell yer! Pfft. Some celebration of life!!!

Long Live Uncle Paul  =^..^=   Your Queen Vee, The Maystar Pride & doting followers.

TYGA TYGA BURNING BRIGHT

We thought this week we might look at one of our pride members who is about to leave home after lockdown to pastures new, it is of course my own Daughter, the stripey chocolate Tyga.

Tyga was born to me just two years ago here at Maystar along with Sister Freya.  She had many names at first as she was going to live with a friend of Momma's to start a new breeding programme, but unfortunately things went wrong their end and little Tyga stayed here. Momma changed her name to MAYSTAREX QUEEN-OF-PRUSSIA which is quite clever as I am named after Queen Victoria (MAYSTAREX EMPRESS OF INDIA) and Tyga named after QV Daughter too!  I really love my special children and was, in my opinion, a great Mum.  Loving and caring for them so closely.  I loved being on Momma's bed until they were four weeks old, snuggled in every night in the safety of our kitten pen.  Those two ran Momma and I ragged, we couldn't wait to get them into the big kitten pen and some freedom from all the suckling.

Tyga grew beautifully and we were the best of friends and I even thought about helping her out when it was her time to have babies, but when the time came, I didn't fancy it at all and left Momma to hand feed them and teach Tyga how to clean them.  Tyga was a better Mother than me in many ways but just didn't have the milk supply and was a little possessive of her children to the extremes of pinching everyone else's kittens in the house too and then protecting the whole lot as if her own.  This year she had the pyometra and that made her think she had babies and has brought in more milk and caring for her own daughter, Robyn, like a kitten and taken on our new kitten, Filly too.

Tyga is the most loving of cats, so much so that she urks me so much trying to kiss me and act like a baby and want me to groom her.  I like my space, I thwak and spit at her, she doesn't care, just hunkers down and waits patiently, I feel bad and lick her head, then thwak her and and walk away huffing so she doesn't follow.  She will seek out Momma then and try to climb into her skin. Laying back presenting her cute little sniffer to be kissed.  She is soft and pliable in Momma's arms and just loves cuddles and shoulder rides.  She is sensitive and won't tolerate any telling off, even if she deserved it.  Her reaction is to stand stock still, those eyes go arched and she stares.  Momma will say "Come here." pointing to a spot on the floor.  Tyga edges forwards, tail up, back arched, tiptoeing with each command and squeaking silently.  Momma can't help but laugh and the whisks Tyga up in her arms forgetting what naughty thing she has just done.

There is one naughty thing she does do and we have not found a way out of it. When she was huge and fat with kittens and couldn't wash her self properly, she started to wipe her fairy on the carpet after a wee.  She hasn't washed her fairy since and Robyn is nearly a year old.  She is quick too and taught Robyn the trick of which Momma has stopped Robyn doing it, but Tyga has never stopped.  Grrr.  Such a bad habit and one we hope her new family won't mind too much?  She may not do it with a change of scenery? Who knows?

She is comical and very playful. Loves those feather toys and wriggly worms.  She will also move about the house tidying up fluff and bits from the carpet and will thieve anything plastic and swallow it down as quick as lightening.  She will chew plastic bags and pinch all sorts of small items. She is quite a hoot with her finds and will play happily with a plastic spring or pen lid.  The most fun she has is interactive fun where Momma plays hard and fast with her.  She loves to run and jump for the toys and will kick and bite catnip toys.

It will be hard to say goodbye to such a special girl who loves and dotes on Momma.  She may be very sad at first but we are sure her new family will love and enjoy her and spoil her rotten and being the only cat she will enjoy the one on one friendship she loves with Momma.  Here, we know she will begin to stress when Momma's time will become split with new kittens and she begins to fight with the the other Mummy cats.  It has to be the best thing for her and also the family are so desperate to love her after losing their own Rex recently. Tyga is young enough to begin a relaxed and doted on young lady.

As for today, she is mooching about with her kittytitty cover on to stop the pretend babies from feeding, it is now off and she is keeping me company in the kitchen as i started to stress pee again and now not allowed upstairs. Pfft.  It's Tyga that's stressing me out Momma, she sleeps on MY PILLOW and lays NEXT TO YOU and I am the one who gets dumped in the kitchen... pfft.  Well, whilst i am here I shall keep an eye on the Sunday roast of which ManSlave found half a chicken in the wilds of the freezer.  He is making room for our bronze turkey arriving on Tuesday.  That won't take long to cook and we won't get a sniff of that!  Doesn't mean i can't beg and hope to have a little lick when no one is looking!

Have a great Sunday all, from your widdly, piddly Queen Vee  =^..^=

ALL THINGS NEW

Well, this is no good...Gardners World has finished for the season, what are Momma and I to snuggle up and type away to this morning?  Rain and Horraces jumping through the orange leaves of the new baby oak who is the last one out in the wilderness to lose her clothes.

It has been a bit of a strange week, Momma woke up Tuesday morning quite poorly and by Wednesday she couldn't move?  Then Friday it was all gone as quick as it came? Ah well... that gave me lots of time to snuggle in bed with her and wipe her soggy brow.  It was nice as our new member, Fillycat, we found makes a jolly good nurse too which is very important role in the house and she even took a short turn in the office at the beginning of the week and was found to be a very sensible  Junior and even sat next to Lillibet who's low elephant growls went unnoticed.

We may as well start with Fillycat then and how she arrived at Maystar HQ.  two Sundays ago the Parentals drove to Devon to collect Flaire from stud who incidentally hasn't mated.  She came straight off call.  During Momma's original visit to drop Flaire off, she met Fillycat (then called Bliss) and looked her over for a new Breeder in Scotland.  Momma loved her and said she would be a good little cat to start with with nice original English lines similar to the original lines we have here and Fillycat's Grand Dad, Manuel, is my Gt gt gt Grand Dad and Fillycat's other Grand Dad is Pearl Father!  Maystar were going to bring Fillycat home to go onto Scotland to the new family.  However, something bad happened to the family the day before so Fillycat wasn't paid for at the time of collection but they mooted they still wanted the kitten. So Momma paid for her and brought her home giving the family time to gather their thoughts and emotions but they didn't contact Filly's breeder or Momma again so we now have a crazy new kitten to add to our growing collection.  It doesn't matter, Momma would have been daft to leave Fillycat there during lockdown as she could fit in here if necessary.

So, we can officially announce that Fillycat will definitely be staying here now and we would like to thank Jane Rowden for our sweet baby who has slotted into Maystar HQ with gusto.  She has a fancy Sunday name, ITZAPROMISE QUEEN PHILLIPA, named after Philippa of Hainault who was Queen of England for 40years as the wife and political adviser of King Edward III. She acted as regent in 1346, when her husband was away for the Hundred Years' War and had fourteen children, many who went onto be Kings. She is a lovely colour too being chocolate tabby like Dad Fawlty and bicolour like Mum Beetle as well as carrying Colourpoint she will make a lovely colour combination to the chocolates we already have as well as replacing the tabby in the breedline we have lost with Tyga.  A bit of fun for the future hopefully.

Fillycat has been taken under Tyga's wing and Tyga brought even more milk in despite being neutered now.  Filly would suckle and so would Robyn making them friends by scent.  Then at night time, SaBreena has been joining us on the bed for cuddles and has been seen washing and playing with Fillycat.  Ikon loves her to bits and was the first to wash her all over and make her smell like all of us.  I like her too, she enjoys a good hard game of chase and smack.  Magnus was terrified for days but after some one on one time together with treats and toys he now enjoys thuggery play and she isn't shy at giving it back.  Faith has sat next to her and she has sat next to Lillibet. Flaire and Pearl can't stand her. They hate everyone anyway.   She has fallen down the loo, broken a blind, climbed curtains, knocked over a full bottle of red wine, ManSlave was seen sucking it all up through a straw, sobbing!  She went on to get stuck behind the fridge and microwave twice.  Since these escapades, she has calmed down a bit and slotted in very well with the routines.  She eats well now after a slow start and enjoys a bit of kibble with her raw.  She has been fun and got everyone quite excited and playful.

As much as Tyga loves the babies and me very much, despite my thwakking her before a wash, she is a bit over kill and protects her Daughter, Robyn, all the time and now Fillycat has arrived to a maternal Tyga, she is now protecting her too.  Full of milky and hormones it doen't help the dynamics of the house if she is chasing and pasting everyone who comes near.  She drags the kittens too if they don't come to her.  It's a funny sight at ten month old Robyn curls into a ball moaning.  As funny and cute as it is, it really needs to stop.  We have tried separating her and she screams and cries like any Mother would and it's more distressing to her. That's just not fair, she doesn't understand.  So we resorted to a KittyTittyCover as both Robyn and Fillycat have a slight upset tummy.  Our lovely vets have put up some horemone tablets Momma can collect tomorrow to stop the milk flow and return her to a neutered cat again.  It will fall just in time as a few weeks back, Momma decided on a home for Tyga.  She will be off to Durham where their family Devon has passed away leaving them bereft and Tyga will leave in December to fill an awful void in their hearts and they will also take her into bed at night too which is a must for her.   Tyga has done a wonderful job of bonding the youngsters together and as much as Momma loves her to the moon and back, she knows there will be trouble when the other girls have their babies as she pinches them all, like she did with Pearl and Flaire's litters and fought daily with the both girls.

Well, I have caught you all up finally and are quite surprised how fate plays it's paw. I am off now to stalk the pork joint that ManSlave wrestled to the ground yesterday when it fell out of the freezer, nearly taking Magnus out and slipped across the kitchen floor and smartly came to a stop under the table.  It's a wild piece that's for sure.  Flaire and I do like a bit of raw pork, but it is not really good for us and means we have to have wormers if we eat that, so I doubt we will get a taste raw.  Providing ManSlave doesn't go crazy with flavourings, we might get a taste cooked instead.  Until then, I am keeping a keen eye on it defrosting and making sure it doesn't make good it's escape again.  It make me jump when it slipped in it's own meltings.... I am on it!

Until next week folks, from all us Kings and Queens here at Maystar HQ.
Tarrarrr! =^..^=

STOP THAT HORRACE!

Those pesky Horraces have been at our garden once more.  They have cached one and a half tonnes of blue slate.  They steal it and bury it all around the garden and neighbour's gardens as well as our potato pots.  Not to mention adding to the squirrel mansions in the wilderness.  There are now seventeen of them as thy don't all live in this area, some come from the lakes woods across the estate from us. You can see them running along the middle of the road with their sweet bounding, tails all loose and flowing.  They have to climb the massive twelve food railway fencing too.  There is nothing like a flying Sciuridae to keep our brains busy.  Momma had a bright idea to add and widen the pathways to help reduce the amount of slate needed and scrape all the leftover slate and put it into a circle of sorts and maybe find a way to stick the last bits down?  Then have a wooden pathway going to the bottom of the garden and use hardwood chippings instead of slate, which is hard to lay and expensive to have to keep buying as they steal it.

Yesterday, we all raced about the communal area in the cool twelve degrees.  It was magical scooting about among the leaves whilst Momma laid a new pathway.  There were wiggly worms to look at an frogs and newts.  Don't they know it's time to hide for winter?  The best find was a huge garden spider.  She was galloping about around the pots and kept us all busy for a few minutes.  Pearl escaped only once, she enjoyed it out there under the trees.  We have also had a garden cat visitor.  his name is Bolo. We are not sure if he has a APB out on his huge bulk as he carries a large knife whilst yelling in his unique language.  Really though, he is a good cat and enjoys watching and trying to catch the odd Horrace.  They are far too quick for him and tease and berate him, cha cha cha they shout down at him.  He wags his tail in annoyance then skulks back over the side gate.

There is much ado a bout Hedgehogs and we have noticed the summer has been quiet and the last one Momma saw was the one she accidentally booted up the bum as it balled itself on the pathway in the dark.  He was fine and carried on under the fence into the wilderness never to return.  You can hear them noisily snuffling about in the leaves outside the fence line.  We have some unusual sounds at night here too.  Momma says it's owls.  They are Little Owls and for such tiny birds they have quite a screech.  You never see them. Just hear them.  The foxes are the same, we don't see them anymore.  Once we had tiny little  Chinese Deer and Woodcocks but as more people moved in around the area, they retreated to the deeper woodland. However, this year the noisy Jays have returned after a fifteen year break.  Secretly, I think the Horraces have taken over!  Even though we don't have any Oak trees close by, somehow we have a huge Oak tree growing in the wilderness.  Those pesky squirrels.

Being very busy last Sunday we missed out on a roast dinner so ManSlave decided to hunt down a piece of Welsh lamb.  It i shard stuff to find now.  It all comes from Ireland or New Zealand.  It's ok, but we find it a bit tough. It's not that buttery flavour you get with Welsh.  We have already had a small piece each which was so yummy. It drove us all bonkers before the garlic went on, then one sniff of that and we were off. I am back now though, watching it cook slowly in the oven.  ManSLave still hasn't managed to get a new light for the oven. The glass won't come off.  In fact, the oven is slowly crumbling and heating very oddly. So long as it cooks today, who cares if it's racks have dropped off?

There is much to catch you up on and I shall do that next week now as earlier Momma and I wrote a really long blog about all the goings on and the youngsters, whilst playing, pulled the power cord from the laptop and we lost the lot.  So instead, we are telling you about Horraces and lamb.  However, we have a new member of the Maystar family, her name is FIllycat and we shall expand next week about her.

I am now bored of tying and have checked on the lamb twice, harassing ManSlave by riding his shoulders. So now I have brought a bright yellow wiggly worm and placed it at Momma's side in the hope she will quickly finish and play with me instead.  Writing two blogs is exhausting!

Enjoy your Sunday folks, from your Queen Vee =^..^=

WE ALL NEED RESTBITE

It has been an unusual week because Momma hurt her shoulder again and has not been able to type very much so the office has been closed for most of the week, so has the creating of things.  That leads us to do really naughty things.  We were able to visit the communal area and have a few days outside whilst the Autumn spreads it's colourful leaves.  Pearl did her usual thing and hopped over the fence a few times which makes Momma laugh.  Due to the shoulder injury, Momma cut us off from the House of Fun because there has been much piddling and ruining of the cat house. It's that dirty Robyn. She is like a mini hope pipe when she is calling and literally just piddled on the bed in front of me as I type this.  Sigh. She just doesn't have a clue she is doing it and I am not sure how she generates so much as I only just bumped into her coming out of the catloo?

Midweek, Tyga was playing with my orange Purrday Wiggly Worm, he was nothing more than a few inches of tail left and as she played hard, she bit down and Momma tugged and down the hatch he went, this was 9pm at night.  Then the sickness began at 2am and continued until mid morning, but only really a dry hacking with a bit of food.  After she ate breakfast we thought that was it until midday when she brought the lot up during an online focus meeting with Agria insurance.  Right after the meeting, Momma rang the vet and they took her in and looked at a whole wormie for comparison.  It wasn't going to be seen on an Xray, so she was given omeprazole to settle the irritation in her tummy and we were to wait for Wormie to reappear from the bottom end!  That took two long days and last night it appeared with a flourish.

On Thursday, Lillibet went to see Vet Tudor and after her examination he suggested that she find a new home to stop her stressing so much and pulling all her fur out.  It has been terribly bad recently and although she chooses to stay lots in the office, she is still flicking and jumping, chewing and licking crazily despite the medication.  SO the plan is to reduce the Gabapentin and keep the Tryptophan going.  He was quite adamant about trying to find her a new home without any other cats she can't cope with.  That's going to be a challenge.  She loves Faith of course and they spend all their time together, so Momma rang her pal Roni who runs a Healing Sanctuary in Warwickshire.  She had lost her wonderful boy Disco a while back and was contemplating having a cat again so has offered to let Lillibet & Faith go for a rest-bite holiday.  This will be OK for Lillibet but Faith is a bit of a princess and may not do as well as Lillibet who was very busy and active the second she arrived.  The house feels very odd with out them and we can at least find out what Lillibet is like away from the stress of Maystar HQ.

Flaire is still on her Hollibobs too and will come home next weekend and hope her boyfriend has done the deed now? She has been quite the little diva, yelling for weeks until she arrived there and went shtum!  At least she hasn't had the dreaded Pyometra and she either was mated on the first few days and no one saw anything or she is now knocked off call... who knows.

Magnus, Robyn and SaBreena are outside in all weathers and enjoy their freedom  racing about watching squirrels and pigeons.  The darn Horrible Horraces have stolen even more gravel and slate now leaving the ground in the communal area bare and the kids are coming in with muddy feet and traipsing them all over windowsills and paintwork.  Ikon is enjoying lots of cuddles and kisses. Only this morning he jumped onto a large sail boat we have hung on the wall and ManSlave was calling for Momma to come and help him hold up the boat because Ikon was bending the brackets with his 4k weight. It was a really funny sight with his big cream body behind the sails and ManSlave trying his best to hold it all up against the wall.  He was promptly extracted by Momma with all of us laughing at his ungainly dismount whereupon he got down and beat us all up for laughing at him.

ODE TO THE WIGGLY WORM
Tyga Tyga burning brightly
Stripey and chocolate daily and nightly
Momma sings Tyga's happy song
She purrs and mews and sings along

Then it's playtime getting ready for bed
She grabs up Wormie by his head
Brings him squeaking to Momma's feet
Lays him down nice and neat

Taps him with her tiny paw
Squeaks and asks to play some more
Momma flicks that wormie about
Tyga jumps, twists and gives a shout

She hangs on tight and won't let go
Momma tugs and says "OH NO"
As wormie vanishes down whole
Right the way down her little gub hole

Tyga gulps and wormie is gone
down the gullet it's no con
Into her tummy and way down low
slithering down, nice and slow

Taking his time to reappear
We sit and wait and constantly peer
Searching through the chocolate gold
Oh how long will she keep hold?

Finally, after two days long
Out he pops all chocolatey and wrong
His colour is no longer bright
As he spent a day and a very long night

At least he is out and Tyga is free
The vet gave some pills and a very good fee
All for a wormie swallowed one night
That gave all at Maystar a terrible fright!

I hope you enjoyed our fun and exciting week here at Maystar.  I am off to check out the roast of beef and yorkshire pudds.  My mouth is watering and Ikon and I shall keep a good eye on the proceedings. Today the clocks went back and the bright morning has been enjoyed by all laying on the floofy blankie watching Monty Don on the TV. Everything a Sunday should be.

Another dull office week where we all lay about the office being Office Cats, trying to be helpy, but not so helpy that we get asked to do any filing. Filing is so yawnsome.  Year end is always so mundane, the same old reconciling and matching this to that and lots of colour markers.  Magnus came for a visit and slid about the desk and laid on everything.  SaBreena scattered pens and papers everywhere.  Robyn had a fleeting visit to find her Mother, Tyga, for a portion of milky.  Tyga has been very loyal wrapped around Momma's neck or sleeping on the floor by Momma's chair whilst I take a well earned nap under the radiator.  Lillibet catches a few rays on the windowsill and has been wearing King Slinky's old vest to stop her washing her back so much.  She went online and ordered herself a longer more fitting type one from one of Momma's pals. Faith has been yawping all day because her bowl is continuously empty and although she and Lillibet are looking very svelt, it all comes at a terrible cost to her hunger warnings.  Pearl never ventures further from the landing windowsill, she might get attacked by the big mean upstairs cats in the shape of Tyga.  Ikon enjoys long snoozes on the landing with his son.  Flaire is still on her Hollibobs.

Momma has also been trying to fathom out how to get some of us on the same foods again, but there are still many issues afoot with keeping my bladder healthy as well as stopping everyone thieving my food, especially Tyga.  Ikon always pushing me from my bowl too and he is just a big bully boy.  Ironically, when Momma tries to feed them both other fishy flavoured foods they don't like them.  I don't have much of the bag left then it's full on rabbit as we spoke about last week.  So, Momma has been searching online for Surefeeders second hand.  It is at least £30 off most of them and some are very new. The one she picked up this week is very new and extra quiet. Pretty cool as this one is mine so I can eat in silence!  Momma has labled them too to make it easier now there are 5 feeders. It has taken up the entire workspace and poor Alexa has had to be plugged in elsewhere as she interferes with the microchips. All very technical this AI stuff!

After work each day, Momma has been making and creating something new each day towards her Kitten room project.  There can only be an hour allocated to it each day with building, sewing, making, covering and fixing all the bits and pieces together. There is a space for a new mini fridge, a place for cat litter, all the draws for the kitten saving and birthing equipment.  A unique lockable area for medications and potions.  A unique section for foods and tins as well as a few special storage places for spare litter trays and useful stuff.  There have been boxes covered in materials from the old curtains and the new fabrics to house all the kitten blankies in as well as larger boxes for vet visits and show blankies which has saved much space in other areas of the house.  The unique doors have been covered in fabric with unusual leather handles and a great couple large butterfly handles.  There is one final secret area behind the whole kitten unit, which by the way is raised up to save Momma's back, which holds all the half doors as well as the floor kitten pen.  It is all very unusual and bespoke to us and we hope it will work ever so well when the time comes to have kittens again.  There is still much to do and an hour a day soon knocks off those little jobs to make it extra special and purrfect.

There are so many little jobs to be done in the kitten room, curtains to finish, a bed spread to be made, a curtain and some kitten guards.  The rosettes have all been hung up after the room was decorated.  There are still lots of photos and pictures to be hung up too.  It will get there. It is  a break each day from year end to stop us going so stir crazy.  Not that I help that much really. I like to poke my paws into everything of course. That's helpy enough.

In the mornings Momma and I have a great little routine.  Every day she has to take lots of pills and those little pills rattle away in their plastic packets.  I sit patiently on the windowsill and she takes out her giraffe bag and removes each packet and rattles it in my direction.  Out comes my paw and I waggle it about and if i am a bit lackluster she titivates me by touching my sniffer with the packet and my mouth crinkles as my lips cover my teeth making a little 'O'.  This makes Momma all gooey inside so I do it even more and make little mewling noises too.  I wave my paw and try to pull those rattlers towards my mouth for a nibble but I am not allowed to puncture the foil.  This game goes on for a nice amount of time and there is one packet that makes me go all silly and I roll over kicking her hand and balance on the windowsill and my mouth really goes to town with my lips really crinkled. I make Momma laugh and that's all that matters.  She leans forward and kisses my tummy and I spring up and press my face on her face and rumble out a big purr to reward her for the attention.  I do so enjoy one on one time and since I am back sleeping on the pillow, I feel even more jolly and bring Wormie everywhere in the hope someone will animate him for me.  The only issue with that is Magnus has exceptional hearing and is always there biting my toys.

It is off to sort the lunch and find out why there isn't a roast in the oven? Well, Momma forgot about he piece of ham that needed cooking up so today is an easy day of ham and lentil soup so ManSlave gets a reprieve from slaving and can get on cleaning out his fish and reading the online paper.  No doubt he will have an array of helpers as he sucks up the gravel poop and tidies the rocks and plants.  SaBreena and Magnus enjoy looking in the tank and playing in the water, I am surprised no one has ever fallen in over the years!

Right, I feel a nap coming on seeing as there is nothing on the oven channel. First I shall have a gallivant about with possibly Magnus as he is good fun to torture and always making up rubbish in his head, then find a nice comfy space to oversee everything just in case I am needed super quickly to play with Wormie.

Have a great Sunday and enjoy the last of the dry weather.  Your Queeniest Queen Vee =^..^=

THE FIGHT IS ALL GONE

It has been a funny sort of week here at Maystar.  A busy and yet monotonous repetitive days with much rain and no time out in the communal area.  Pearl and Flaire were put into Al-CAT-raz or the stud house to outsiders.  They were playing competitive widdling and poohing on the cat wheel in the House of Fun and Momma had HAD ENOUGH and although never shows us her annoyance, you could see she was at the end of her tether and shouted obscenities every so often! They have a wheel in Al-CAT-raz, one of those plastic ones that can live outside. They peed on this too...sigh.  I have stopped going out to run on the wheel, just too much competition.

Magnus and Ikon spent the odd night out in the House of Fun because the youngsters were calling and Robyn is way too young to be caught and not really so much that but the nights and nights of chasing, banging and crashing from the kitchen.  One night there was a loud crash and off flew the water dish, which is a glass mug with cat and mouse decal on, from the windowsill and spilled everywhere which must have made the worktop slippery as there were skid marks everywhere.  They had pushed one of the special glasses from the work top and with that breaking noise at 2am, Momma was down the stairs sweeping and wiping up all the glass shards from the kitchen floor.  I can imagine it was Magnus as he is very big for his young 9 months and not yet in control of his massive teenage feet.

Flaire has left the building in the hope that she may have kittens. Ironically, her Son is interested in her yelling for boys and Ikon is not. Typical!  So with Pearl alone in Al-CAT-raz during the day all is well and happy with her and she watches the Horraces and runs on the wheel.  She is eating so much now but not really putting on any weight, the Vitamin B12 supplement at least is giving her an appetite however, she is unaware that she needs to stop and some of the amount of food has to exit as chocolate gold. Shame they are not pre-wrapped. ManSlave went out to Al-CAT-raz to visit Pearl and do the feeders for the Horraces and birdies and he noticed her food was all gone?  He text Momma "SOS, Pearly has run out of food and is fainting." She came riding in on his shoulders and immediately headed for the food machine.  Pfft, she had a huge bowl of food at early breakfast  and it was only midday.  See, it's as though she has worms which was why her diagnosis was so weird to find and only a smart vet to notice the pattern wasn't right for such creepy crawlies.

I have had a good week, I am half way through yet another food change that has taken a month of increasing a few kibbles each day and even though I really love the taste of the fish style food it still makes my skin lumpy and bumpy and my breathing raspy.  I am eating Flaire's special Duck & Potato diet that claims that the urine is kept to a neat 6.5 which would be brilliant.  Flaire's special food wasn't quite right for Flaire, it was good but Momma found a better one for her, damn me if it isn't fish!!!  I tried it and had lots of breathing problems and my skin flared up.  I can't win! The vets have been amazing and I am now on a 4 month review, well, 3 months now as a month has gone.  I look a little grubby but over all I feel really well and exceptionally happy.

I know I am happy because I love my Wiggly Worm again and drag him everywhere.  I was given a new one in September for my Purrday and he has lasted all of a month. His little orange body hanging like a fish in a Puffins beak and with a meep meep that sounds Puffin like too.  I carry him, head first which has worn to string, leaving just his tail dangling from my lip.  At night, when everyone has gone to bed, I bring him proudly to Momma squeal and wave my paw about until she flick flacks him about from her bed. It's the best part of my day, just us together.  I have my medication, which tastes NASTY, and then I get to play to try and forget the flavour.  ManSlave says it sounds like Elephant Rex on the ceiling as I thump from floor to bed and back again.  Often in the morning, Wormie is still in the kitten room and I drag him through the cat flap and he gets stuck, so I call Magnus and he pulls and pulls it until the flap opens to let the wand out, then he trots super proudly, head held high and the second he drops it, I am there to catch Wormies fall. I never get bored if I am healthy and I guess this is my gauge of wellness!

There is one thing that has been annoying me and that is my Daughter, she has been rather sooky and turned into a Mummy cat despite her huge operation to spey her. She has commandeered Robyn, her daughter, into suckling from her and has brought a full belly of milky in for her.  She has become protective too and having a go at anyone that even looks at Robyn.  Robyn, who is in call, then turns into a baby cat and follows Tyga about mewling for milky and not eating enough kibbles and has lost weight.  Then, at night time, Tyga HAS to sleep next to Momma and I don't get a look in and that makes me mad.  I spit and hiss at her and Momma and go into a huff to my bed.  However, last night after wormie play, I still felt a bit giddy so Tyga pounced on me and I pounced on her. She wiggled her butt and did a big pounce so I laid into her and she fell over into a heap and mewled like a baby and me being me firstly went to whakk her one, then decided to wash her - she woke the Mother in me - PFFT!  I am SO mad at her too and she just crawled along the floor after me, wiggling then falling over if I got rough. So that's that sort of over and I shall tolerate her daft behaviour and with that in mind, I slept on Momma's pillow again, claiming my special human and Tyga slept in her arms all night.  Poor Momma, her neck is all cricked today.  Giggles. She loves it really!

As usual, I tell you what is for lunch.  Well, I am not sure how this happened but a small bit of beef fell out of the freezer and just missed Ikon's paws, he jumped away a bit surprised. Being a Birthday cat this week he was hoping for something special to eat and so the beef spoke to him.  He is sure to get a two year olds portion!  It shouldn't be a long cook. It's really small so I shall help ManSlave dig some potatoes out and collect some mint and we have a couple of beans left too. I shall ride on his shoulders and dig my nails in his back to grip on as he bends..  We can play with the strings, they feel funny on your face and are fun to carry about.  Lillibet used to really love a green bean string when she was a baby. She has forgotten how that game goes!  Just briefly on Lillibet, she has lost a few more grams on her diet. Faith is holding her weight and Momma can't seem to shift the final 100gms.  Maybe she should look at her own body first and get some exercise done and apply that to Faiths routine?

Right, I am off, ManSlave is dishing out freeze dried ducky treats and I can't miss out. The entire house is here, moaning and growling, grumbling and taking their feeding places to get their ducky. Only SaBreena has beef flavoured ones, she is so fussy with just one taste bud!  Right, I am going, I can hear the cap popping off and my fellow housemates are being treated....laters folks.

THOSE PESKY SQUIRRELS

The Horrible Horraces are upping their game this week with the Autumnal weather sliding in.  The berries are out in force and the birdies of all shapes and sizes are munching away and are looking quite rotund,  I take it from all their stuffing of food that we are in for a bad wet winter?  The Horrible Horraces are getting cheeky too and taking the meets & greets to the furthest extent.  They are popping in and out of our CatPod whilst we are in there and being slow to leave to make us chase them back out.  They come into the top part of the House of Fun shelves which is accessed along the roof.  Then, once chased they sit just out of paw reach on the roof having a wash.  Honestly. They are taking over!

SaBreena, Pearl and I stand at the gate to the House of Fun and look at the side squirrels, these are squirrels that only feed at the side of the house. The Horraces from the main garden walk, belly flat to the ground and semi crawl to the gate, sniffers going ten to the dozen, whiskers quivering.  We  lay flat too, squeaking and shaking and trying to tell those naughty squirrels they might be lunch.  Then, the squirrel will sit high on his backside then leap beside the door frame, clinging on and peeping at us cats below. They are so sneaky and quick but now they tease us quite a lot. Even when we jump at them, they hardly move just flinch a bit.  Then up the door and along the cat proofed fencing then push their little faces into the netting where they have snipped a few holes to ready their escape and usually with a piece of slate to boot!

On Wednesday morning, Robyn made her escape when Momma came back from cleaning the outdoor litter trays and that speedy Robyn, who is the size of a squirrel, slipped out of the starting gates like a greyhound and chased a belligerent pugnacious Horrace into the trees.  He Gyrated his hips and stuck out his tiny tongue and shouted obscenities at her.  Robyn was very pleased with herself and came back eventually when called and praised.  he tail was super floofed up and the size of a squirrel's tail. She held it aloft with pride and trotted back yelling in her singular voice all about the chase and how she nearly tasted his butt!  Momma laughed and picked her up giving her a cuddle and was rewarded with a tremendous purr and up she went onto Momma's shoulders to double check those pesky Sciurus have left the garden.  We know why now squirrels have that genus for a name!  Well, they steal all our slate and you can hear ManSlave shout "You can't be serious!" Well, Ok, it's from the Greek, skia and oura, meaning shadow and tail as they love to sit in the shade of that bushy appendage.

This morning ManSlave woke Momma with an Orchid, well I suppose it was better than the pinch and the punch she got 3 days ago on the first of the month.  So why and Orchid? Well it's their 23rd Annipurrsary today. Who knew monogamy could last so long! For us cats it wham bam thank you mam and off they go into the wide world to repeat to other poor unsuspecting queens. I didn't like that bit of the relationship.  I cried and mewled that I didn't want to do it and pushed my butt to the floor.  I conceived Tyga and Freya with a cheap shot!  Flaire always enjoys her time with the boys and turns her trips into sweet canoodlings.  Momma is waiting for Ikon to do his thing again soon.  We are in no rush, the break is nice and relaxing and there are so many babies about at the moment anyway.  Sabreena, by age , should be next.  It was her first birthday on Thursday so she is growing nicely and overtaken Robyn who has a few months yet to get the right weight and size.  So no kittens at the moment.  We are still twiddling our thumbs.

With it being an Annifurrsary, that means a good bit of meat. Today is a Tomahawk Beef steak cooked like a roast and we get the bone once it is all cooked up.  It's the very best bit, the rib eye and is rather lush in my opinion.  It won't take long to cook so i best get a jiggle on and get to the stove before Ikon who will eat the majority of the trimmings before anyone else gets a taste.

Have a super Sunday and we hope next week there will be less of the wet stuff for everyone.

PUSHING THE ENVELOPE

It has been a busy week of us being Office Cats.  It is quite a dull job and there isn't much to be done but wait about until the work is finished.  We are very helpy when the shredder is turned on or the printer fires up.  Lillibet and Faith have been true office seniors, overseeing all the youngsters and their antics.  SaBreena and Magnus have been deemed blinking useless and although they tried their very best, they were not invited back!  Magnus is very clumpy and too big for every surface. He slips and slides all over the place and doesn't even fit on the windowsill becoming all slithery and silly pushing all the sewing boxes off onto the floor.  SaBreena was almost worse with her long Cheetah legs and tiny paws.  She stood on a slippery plastic pocket full of receipts and that was those all emptied out and mixed up. Momma put them back in the pocket and SaBreena was at it again with her feet and legs everywhere as though she was on four wheel drive trying to get purchase and bam, the lot was on the floor again with her following as though on roller skates, legs darting this way and that, like bambie on ice!  Nah, she won't make it as an office cat any time soon either.

Being an Office Cat is regarded as a special task. You are to be sedentary and well behaved. Never to touch the key pad on the laptop like Robyn, who was also not asked back after her work experience.  Like her half sister, she was all legs and feet and pressing this and that with her busy paws.  A quick purr as an apology to Momma for calculating things all incorrectly and all was forgiven until next time.  I think these three will be on beverages only with occasional light filing duties in the future.  They don't know their A's from their Z's so that will be interesting!  Now, I am very good at filing especially the zeds, I can fit many of those in on my filing mat. Zzzz..... Sorry, I dropped off there for a second!  Many years ago, King Slinky wrote a Blog about Faith and the printer, now she could care less if it prints all day and night. It's not as exciting as the first time she heard it.  She leaves that to the under two year old kitties who are still fascinated with the hum and trundle of the paper flow. Tyga and Ikon still get a kick out of it!

Momma has a new office machine arriving on Wednesday. It cuts all sorts of things and crimps, slices, trims and creases.  It will be a great addition to our enjoyment of office life and give something else for Momma to tell us to keep our paws out of!  Included in this grand purchase is a new filing cabinet which will free up desk space for, yep you guessed it, a cat bed!  The desk is currently covered in archive boxes which we love to sleep in the tops of and this makes and endless daily struggle gaining access to the files.  The days of ease of access are gone and a new streamlined office must happen and that means ManSlave has to learn where to look for stuff and even put it away?!  I shall take charge and show him around especially as the new filing cabinet will be very tall and I will need a ladder to gain access to the top.  Where there is a will, there is a way!

To make room for the new contraption and cabinet there has been much reshuffling in the bright neat bijou room.  It has to double up as a craft come space with sewing area and card making section as well as an office that run no less than 5 businesses that Momma looks after so the archiving and filing is very strict and purging of nonsensical items is required.  Anyone looking at this tiny 8ft x 9ft space would be baffled at it's walls which are full of paintings and collected bits and pieces of important meanings with boxes filled to the brim of useful and needed things and cupboards full of important documents which has to be in cupboards as we love to tip things up and stand on papers and chew the corners and holepunch where they shouldn't be.  It is quintessentially unique and bespoke and tailored for a crazy cat house full of busy felines.

The working week is now over and our day of rest starts, except, we are going to be busy cats today. We have Mishka's family popping up to meet us all.  It will be a lovely day and yesterday ManSlave trimmed up a bit of Welsh lamb in preparation for their visit. We were hoping for warmer weather so we could show off in the garden and play about and show off our tribe of Horrible Horraces.  We are trying to find good homes for them as we have 17 of the furry grey jobs and I see from the lady ones, there is another batch on the way!  I wonder if Mishka's folks might want to take some home later today?  We have lost nearly all the slate that was laid last summer, that's two tons vanished into the wilderness and all I can see is squirrels racing too and fro with mini wheelbarrows piled high with OUR SLATE!  They must have a complete Horrible Mansopn out there.  I hear real estate is going up in this area. No wonder if they are hiking up the prices and making a mint selling slate dwellings to hedgehogs, badgers and birds.  They will need retrospective planning soon and who will pay for that?  Us, out of our cat food fund probably!

I must dash, I have to get ready for visitors and we have to be brushed and ears cleaned as well as a quick Mani-Pedi to complete the look.  I am sure we will all have to wear our Sunday best collars and look the part and get ready for cuddles and kisses, especially Tyga, who is feeling very bright and happy.

Until later folks, your eternal Queen Vee =^..^=

A WEEK OF DRAMARAMA

Picture
Honestly, this week was like a whirlwind after a very fun weekend in the sun.  Lillibet visited Vet Tudour to discuss her FHS (Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome).  He took one look at her and said "Would you mind me testing her for fleas?"  YIKES, Momma's heart began to beat very fast as he picked out lots and lots of black flecks from her furless patchy fur and sprayed them with water.  Momma knew in her heart of hearts that it wasn't fleas and that she had been rolling about in the sunshine outside.  Of course, it wasn't fleas, but it did stop Momma breathing for a second or two!  He went on to discuss the medication and has decided the Gabapentin she is on is not quite the right dose and has added in a new huge horse pill with L-Triptophan in it.  Now, L-Triptophan is a very clever amino acid which is found in chicken, turkey, lamb, beef etc. She isn't so much lacking in it more that she could do with a bit more so that it can create niacin, which is essential in creating the neurotransmitter serotonin which in turn reduces anxiety. All of which she needs in copious amounts.

Ironically, looking into serotonin production a little deeper got Momma thinking about Pearl and her anxious behaviour and her B12 deficiency.  The B12
acts as a cofactor in synthesis of serotonin and dopamine affecting her mood and high strung emotions.  So with this in mind, Momma will speak to Vet Aidin on Monday to ask if injections are better for her as the B12 is being given orally and her absorbion rate in her gut is poor and should we add in L-Triptophan whilst she recovers which might reduce the hissy, spitty fits she produces if anyone looks at her.  I know quite a bit for a cat don't you think?

Warning!  Photo of surgery below

So, to the rest of Monday and Momma was concerned about Tyga.  It was meant to be a happy day as only a few days before she had 'pinked up' from a mating 25 days prior. It was to be an exciting mating between the Minoan Cattery and Maystar DRX. That was swiftly whipped from under us with my precious daughter having odd behaviour.  Tyga and I have access to the kitten room and there she lay all day after a foray out in the morning sunshine.  She hadn't eaten a bite all day and had drunk and entire bowl of water.  Ok, it was a warm day, but that's a bit excessive.  She looked and acted quite normally during the day and was purring and being adorable as usual. Momma checked on her at tea time and her tummy looked very distended almost as though she was 7 weeks pregnant.  Yikes and a furmometer said she had a temperature of 39.3 and rising.  By the time we got her to the vets she was 39.9!  Vet Aidin took her in swiftly, scanned her and rang Momma back in the carpark to say her worst fears were realised, it was indeed a closed Pyometra which is an infection of the uterus.  It is exceptionally serious and life threatening and has to be treated immediately once spotted.  It is caused by horemonal changes in the reproductive tract during this period of mating, the immune system lowers dramatically to accept the sperm and stimulate ovulation. The pinking up was more likely to be a rush in hormones.  After a period on fluids and antibiotics to stabalise her, she was operated on to remove the pus filled uterus and ovaries. Vet Aidin said afterwards that it was the biggest Pyo in  a cat they had ever seen so she took a photograph for Momma to share on my page.  Sorry if you are squeamish, however it is very educational for other breeders.

Tyga was home by 10pm and tucked into the kitten pen with a hot pad and lots of love and attention all night from Momma.  I thought she smelled really bad and still have not got over this and hiss at her continuously, even a week later she is annoying me being a soppy kitten, following Momma about like a lost lamb and wanting me to Mother her.  Nah, she isn't the same and I feel a bit jealous of all the attention is getting. Pfft, although we are all very happy she is alive and well after a dogdy few days of sickness.  Vet Aidin trusted Momma to have her at home with continuous fluids.  She kept her canular in just to make sure.  Each day she has gained in strength, sleeping next to Momma and squeaking like a new born for attention.  During the day she stays in the kitten pen until she is allowed to jump. She is so doped up on medication, she just sleeps and recovers.  Now 5 days post op, she is out and about and trying to get Robyn to suckle from her.  It really is such a shame as she is an excellent Mother.  We hope Robyn picks up the baton now as Tyga was already 6 years of hard work on her lines.

I traveled with Tyga to have her canular out and went to my appointment to have my Bladder poked with a BIG NEEGUL.  I had some whizzy juice to sedate me a bit as as usual I was exceptionally wriggly.  I also hissed at the nurses and then felt a bit bad, so fell about on my head purring and pressing myself into the nurses to apologise for being rude.  It made them all laugh as you never know what a hissing cat will do next, certainly not be all silly that's for sure.  I like to be different and take folks by surprise.  All day, once we were home, i was silly and soppy, rolling about and squeaking to get lots of attention and making the Parentals laugh so much despite the sad outcome of my daughter, Tyga.  Later in the week Vet Hannah rang to tell Momma my results which were excellent.  My urine has reduced from a huge 8.5 to a neat 6.0 acidity.  thank heavens all the grit has gone and I feel so much better, except the food which I have to change because I am having terrible breathing issues.  However, I will stay on the Atopica and keep on the Cystease and the FLUD paste for a while longer to make sure my bladder stays calm and stress free whilst we change the food to the Animonda Intergra Rabbit & Potato.  It won't be easy but at least I can tolerate rabbit better than fish and the product works for Flaire and claims it keeps urine levels to 6.5.  I live in hope of being free of all these issues soon. Watch this space.

After a week of looking after Tyga, who has gone from strength to strength, there wasn't much time for anything else. In honesty, we are not sure where the week has gone, except there have been a few racings about outside for the rest of us in the warm weather and manSlave has done lots of outdoor jobs and Momma has painted the stud house and repaired and replaced shelving to make new and wider places to sit and watch Horrible Horraces from.  There was a delivery too of a new cat wheel.  This time a plastic one as it it much thinner and washable and fits neatly into the outside lower section of the house.  Magnus and Ikon have been trying it out for a few hours a day and it is a big hit with Magnus, Ikon was not sure and kept rolling about under the heat lamp instead. They should be quite comfy out there eventually.  Slowly slowly though as they are so used to being indoors.  They are enjoying racing about in the length on the side of the house and learning how to climb and jump about.  That way, once they do have to move out, they have an enriched life out there to enjoy and we hope that they will get on and keep each other company.

Today is a warm sunny autumnal day, the sun isn't strong enough to warm our bodies so we lay behind the plastic toasting ourselves. I have spotted a piece of pork heading into the oven.  This week ManSlave had to go all hunter gatherer on us and do a shop from Tesco online.  So in short, it's not our usual fare of free range local piggy as they are all out this week, ManSlave was too late to the farm. Hey ho, we will all still get a tiny bit each once it is cooked. It is my job to make sure everyone is gathered for a titbit, well, all except SaBreena who only has one tastebud!  Ikon just piddled on th emain bed, luckily the bamboo encased duvet was saved it's fate of a wetting this time.  He is being a bit of a bully cat and still picking on me and now smacking Tyga who has lost her top cat status.  It's all going on here don't you know!

From a very humble and grateful Queen Vee.  =^..^=

IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH

Well, what a wonderful Purrday adventure we all had last weekend.  Thank you to everyone for taking part and congratulations to those winners winners turkey dinners!  Momma and I are organising your winning gifts ready to post.

Let me take you back to the the Wednesday, the day of my Birthday Bash, when ManSlave found Pearly in a fit of peak. She was passing copious amounts of blood from her bottom. Momma had set my virtual cat show in motion and bundled Faith & Flaire into the car for their vaccinations when ManSlave raced out holding a very bloody Pearl.  She too was popped in the car, but the vaccinating vet couldn't deal with the emergency, so Momma raced Pearly across town to the big vets where they took her in right away and examined her.  Pearl is quite the red head at times and she can be quite feisty, except for today when she was a model patient.  She tried several times to climb into Vet Hannah's pocket and when having an internal investigation of her bottom, she was very accommodating, standing on her tippy toes and purring?  Go figure, strange little cat, who enjoys the furrmometer, let alone a vets digit? She then went on to have bloods taken from her neck and didn't even require restraint.  She sat like a happy bunny!  Once she was brought home, she was out of the carrier and smacking everyone, growling and spitting like a cobra.  She really is a stress head living here with us all.  We found out over the weekend that she has a Vitamin B12 deficiency which causes vomiting and an upset tummy, the blood was just from straining from being poorly both ends at once.  Poor kid.  She is still undergoing treatment of Cobalamin for at least three months, then she will have to be retested. She is also on lots of probiotics because it causes all the gut flora to die off and she has nothing to digest her food properly and has lost weight very dramatically.

Momma has been trying to catch my wee wee in a pot for the vet to test my crystals but I slam my butt very tightly to the cat litter and stop piddling when I see her coming.  We have played this game for four days now. She tried to catch it in special wee litter, but I wouldn't use it and went on the carpet next to the tray to protest!  What made her think I was going to use THAT and make her job simple?  Now I hear that I am booked in on Tuesday for a urine sample direcly from my bladder with a HUGE NEEGUL!  YIKES, gimme the pot Momma! I really messed that up didn't I?

Lillibet also has an upcoming trip to meet Vet Tudor to look at the next stage of her FHS (Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome) because she has been piddling again.  Our lovely Vet Marina has moved and is only on surgeries. We will know more soon.

Also, whilst I am on illnesses, Momma has been poorly, some sore throat something, not the dreaded C-19, so Tyga and I have cared for her each day when she gets into bed for a nap.  It is very important to look after out hoomans and make sure they are fit and well and able to keep our trays clean and feed us. Of course, it's all about us!  Seeing as she has been home, each morning Momma has been adding bits to the new kitten pen which is slowly coming together with kitten bumpers and new floofy pads that fit the house.  All the exciting things are being stored behind doors and draws that we are trying to pull down and out, especially Ikon who has worked out a way to remove the lower door and squeeze through into the cupboard.  He is a determined young man.

Picture
It is a really lovely warm day here today and I feel a long afternoon of enjoying the communal garden.  Yesterday, whilst out in the CatPod, Ikon caught a baby Goldfinch.  He wasn't a particularly well Goldfinch who hopped into the CatPod and whoosh, down Ikon came on him and he was dispatched in seconds. There was no saving him.  Possibly the best thing really, no wild bird allows it's self to be caught unless sickly.  Ikon raced around the house, feathers flashing everywhere. The robot vacuum was going dizzy keeping up with the all the fluff.  He was followed by the prideZ ,  who tried very hard to pinch the bird. Ikon was having none of it. That was his birdie.

Magnus has been trying his luck with Roby, she is far too young to be caught, so spent most of the week in the cat house with half sister SaBreena, who was also calling.  Alas, she is old enough and Magnus was scared of her! Quite funny really to watch.  He did manage a few times to pounce on her, but dare not let her go! Both are out of call so today we can all play in the communal garden today with out the worry of hormonal escapees. Last thing Momma needs is local cat Bolo to catch them unawares!  Even though Pearly has been poorly inside, her outsides are fine and happy and even she called for a short while and we all know what she is like at escaping!

With Momma being poorly and such a warm day ahead, there will be no roast today. I am not sure that I fancy salad to be honest. However, there may be tuna on offer, so we will sit around the plates and beg for some each. The only three cats that are not fussed on tuna are Lillibet, Pearl & SaBreena, so all the more for the rest of us.  I will do high fives and dance about chirping, Ikon will lay with Magnus, too lazy to ask properly.  Faith will dance on the spot, dancing on tippy toes. Robyn sits on command and Flaire will give a paw when she isn't snarling at everyone only being kissy with ManSlave to get some of his tuna. Tyga isn't always around for tuna, she can take it or leave it!  I can hear the door open outside and the CatPods are open and it's time to go bug hunting.  I hope you all have a wonderful sunny Sunday.

Much love and purrs from your Queen Vee =^..^=

HAPPY PURRDAY TO ME!

PictureHigh Five by Shirlaine Forrest
It's my party and I will cry if I want to....cry if I want to ....CRY IF I WANT TO!!!!  OK, I didn't cry on my Purrday, well, maybe just a little mew because Momma fitted a new wormie to the Flying Frenzy, a nice bright yellow one especially to match the gold on my crown, so I mewled and whined and wibbled until ManSlave gave in and whacked it about the lounge a few times, it took my breath away.  I turned four this year and Momma said it feels like forever. I am not sure if that was meant in the best way?  I got a new water fountain in lime green, I hate it, pfft, a water fountain - that's like ManSlave buying Momma a kettle!  Never mind, there is always Xmas and I don't suppose I should complain, there are hundreds of thirsty cats out there, including, it seems, Pearl!

The best part of the days celebrations was to invite all my loyal followers from around the world to both enter and judge my QUEEN VEE'S BIRTHDAY BASH. Far flung followers and judges from New Zealand, Aus, America and good old blighty!  There were three main classes, one for Knights of the Realm (boys), Ladies of the Court (girls) & Knaves & Maids (kittens).  Then that dear crazy cat lady, Shirlaine Forres Photographer extraordinaire, judged a spot class and I had my say in our most active TOP FAN and follower Avallon and his Mum Catherine Blundell.

So, I know you are all champing at the bit to know who has won what??? So, here we go and can I just say, what a turn out with over 300 cats of all shapes and sizes and some real beauties.  The classes will be awarded as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Very Highly Commended for the main three classes.  The judges sure did express they had a really difficult time and all said they were trying to choose cats that they felt looked a bit fun and were a tad gutted there was no cuddling to be done. Sigh...That's C-19 for ya - no touchy feely!  Below each class is a file you can download to print or keep as a memento of our lovely few days together.  Just a moments thoughts for Uncle Paul, who is in hospital having his throat messed with again and couldn't join us as Judge & Jury and to folks who stood up to the challenge.

There you all have it, Quite the selection and we all know would have chosen something different each time and there are just not enough prizes for everyone, especially as Momma and I were only expecting about 20 entries to each category.  See, you never really know who is watching secretly from the side lines to our strange and quirky little family!  And to that end, I have some amazing followers who, I have to admit, were KS followers first and foremost and I must not forget old Slinks in my great success.  However, I have gleaned a healthy number of followers since my 'High Five' escapades at the Supreme cat show in 2019.  I have the odd stalker too... shhhh.  There is a fancy button you can now select called TOP FAN and lots of you have chosen that on FB and with that I have awarded a special one off TOP FAN certificate to my fave cat in this catagory and especially to their human.  This particular follower always has lots of questions to make Momma scratch her head and think quite a lot.  There isn't a week that goes by that Ms Blundell trundles out with another inquisitive forthright question.  Now THAT's a true follower!  So congratulations goes out to AVALLON & CATHERINE for TOP FAN.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE...

Well, Momma rang New Zealand at silly O'clock to get the latest news from the Judge, Nathan Hawkins or Nat The Cat as Momma calls him.  Nat is catless and used to look after us when the original pussers Dewie & Boosby were alive back in the 90's.  Momma and ManSlave adopted Nat the Cat and he is forever our CatBro. When he took one look at the final candidates for the show last evening his gasped and ummed and aghed at the choice.  He picked one and then the other then settled for.... wait for it.... KITTY - Owned by Michelle Findlay.  Kitty is a THERAPY CAT and I think once he looked into her exquisite little face he kept cooing "Awwww (sounds like Pikkachoo) Those whiskers." He announced. "Beautiful eyes, Awww, that white tummy and dinky white socks." He starts laughing "Ha, ha, ha what a pose. I wish I could have a cuddle now, she is so relaxed. I want her."  Well, I think that was game, set and match.  HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!

I really hope you have enjoyed my Birthday Bash?  I know many of you follow the blogs and watch our youtube channel already. For those that don't feel free to sign up and enjoy a weekly update of all things crazy cats.  Right, after all this excitement, Momma will be in contact with the winners to collect addresses for small token prizes for the first places etc. It was more for a bit of entertainment and fun and I really hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

For now, I am off to check on a little piece of beef that ManSlave ordered from the Simmental breeders in Kennilworth.  Their meat is just yummy and this week we will all get a taste of the raw trimmings the nice butcher sends with it.  We are a terribly lucky pride don't you know!  There is a life times worth of watching the oven heat up, the light shine over the foil and you could live off the fumes.  I will press my sniffer to the outlet and doze in the warmth hitting my face.  You know what it's like, waiting in line to be first in the queue.  I have my sleeping pouch, pillow, food and water and will camp out until it's done.

Enjoy your Sunday folks and see you all next week.
Your gracious and glorious Queen Vee  =^..^=

It has been a very dull week here with the Parentals working hard and not much has gone on here in relation to amusing events.  It has rained hard and the kittens have played hard in the weather.  Even though it is soaking wet, there they are, outside, being blasted and battered by the rain.  they are hardy little souls.  SaBreena's coat is all thick and madly wavy and curly, wind swept really!  Her half sister and my grand daughter, Robyn, flies about like a bird that she is named after, light as a feather and just as agile in flight as on the ground.  The two of them together, hold onto the bars of the CatPod, bodies almost horizontal with the high winds of storm Ciara.  All the time, they just stay outside in all weather conditions and in the evening, they are called in and towel dried.  Magnus is not as adventurous as the girls who just want to hunt all day.  He prefers to take a hammock and lay there watching the antics of the mini CatWomen or just taking in a long sleep, back to the weather.  He too comes in damp and windswept.  His coat, along with Robyn's, is a more traditional deep ripple like mine.

Horrible Horrace and his family are driving ManSlave crazy mad.  They have stolen over two tons of blue slate.  It is inconceivable really watching them steal and stash a piece every few minutes and now the family is up to fourteen glossy well fed rodents.  They also eat copious amounts of sunflower seeds and peanuts.  They are the very best kept squirrels in the Midlands!  They don't seem to hibernate any more either, they have no need.  They climb to their dreys on wet days where they are snug and warm under a slate roof no doubt!  Tyga nearly got her paws on a youngster, it ran up the side of the CatPod and she wrapped her paws around it's middle.  She was frantic for hours afterwards and the baby squirrel takes a wide berth around the wire.

We have some lovely new come in this week from various Maystar families.  The most exciting news and one we have been bursting to tell you is about Flaireling 2017 Elly, MAYSTAREX DUCHESS D'AQUITAINE, who lives with Margaret Henderson at Kallistra Cattery in Holland.  Elly has had 3 beautiful babies, two girls and a lovely boy who Margaret feels will stay at her cattery to further the lines. We wish them all the very best of luck with this sweet litter and Elly is a really good Mummy cat with lots of milk, unlike her sister Tyga!  We are so thrilled for them all.  Thank you for sharing and involving us here at Maystar.

Picture
More news has come in too about sweet Gracie, ESPERANZA ANNE OF MAYSTAR, who is our foundation queen, Flaire & Viktori's Mum.  She is very well and happy up in Scotland and enjoying life with Granny and the Walker family.  I think Granny has enjoyed her company during lock down with C-19.  She and Konran have formed a good solid relationship now which was slow growing due to the little fella's allergy to her. He persevered and enjoys her company, without touching.

Picture
New in from Flairelings 2020 & Tygaling 2019, Teddy, MAYSTAREX EARL-OF-ARRAN & Buddy, MAYSTAREX LORD RHYS.  They are just hooked to each other twenty four seven unless cuddling their Mum and making her feel loved after a heavy day at work, where they help with zoom calls and giving her abundance of love and cuddles.  They are so very happy and quite different with Teddy being a bit naughty and funny and Buddy a more chilled gentle boy.  They always say that opposites attract!

Picture
Another sweet update from the delicious Bruno, MAYSTAREX LORD ERSKINE, and his Mummy Dr Anna, who is an Social Anthropology scholar and lecturer.  She and Bruno have such an affinity together, he is part of her skin and he loves her completely.  He is also including himself into zoom calls and online lectures which I am sure the students are enjoying.  After his tummy upset, he has been watched like a hawk in the garden in case he munches something he shouldn't, just like the beautiful Orchid with extra pretty and very tasty grass that I ate!  sigh.  We can't help it! Everything tastes lovely.  And Ikon's children seem to have picked up his munching habits.

Picture

Floki loving the sunshine
In honesty, Momma gets updates regularly from most of the kittens who have left home.  Lots of news always from the Brown family about their three girls, Astrid MAYSTAREX MAIDOV NORWAY, Floki MAYSTAREX COUNTESS ARRAN & Freya MAYSTAREX PRINCESS BATTENBURG.  Freya is a pure white girl and often Momma gets a text that she is yet again being naughty and is called the 'little fooker'.  Just recently she has learned to climb the doors - just why asks Russ Brown?  Then Astrid is always vanishing and a big search ensues where she is usually found on a shelf somewhere.  Then the reports of the very well behaved, well adjusted Floki who is Flaire's Sister.

I feel you have had enough updates for one day.  I don't want to tell you about every Maystar cat out there in one day, especially as this blog is all about me really!  Just a quicky update on my royal self, I have been on this special diet which still makes my skin rather sore under my legs and it won't be long now to see if I can slowly go back to a food that doesn't make me so itchy as it doesn't all go to my skin, it goes inside too and upsets my tummy and my throat is a bit closey shutty and I keep having slight problems a few times a week.  Mostly when Ikon jumps on me and I gasp with fright then that in turn causes a flick flacking moment.  Momma dare not leave me.  I have access to the kitten room through the catflap and often he chases me to it or waits outside to whack me.  I hear he will soon be spending a little time outside soon because he is so bully boy and us CatWomen are getting a bit frayed with his antics. I have a further week of tablets, paste, this food and my Atopica.  I sneak about on my belly in front of Momma as she slowly catches me up and I am subjected to the nasty stuff.  At least the amount of tablets for my wee reduction have reduced.  Momma tries her best and sucks up some honey water with the nasty tasting Atopica liquid.  It stops me gagging and then mixes the tablet contents with the paste for a one off entry system.  It's still vile - I can't look at her for at least an hour, then I forget and rumble out a purr before bedtime, then get in for a cuddle and kisses and she reads to me.

Today is sunny and bright, it is a definite day for bird watching.  Not just the feathered kind but the plucked kind too with a cracking freerange Red Leicester chook.  Although, it is rather heartbreaking that we can't have any of it.  Doesn't stop us begging like crazy as it's being served.  We will be pacified with dried ducky treats instead.  bothered?  Not really, anything is better than nothing I h=guess and it's like eating the smell!

With much bowing and scraping this bank holiday to all you serfs.  Your Queen of Queens - Queen Vee =^..^=

This week has been really boring compared to the last few weeks.  Although, Momma is very annoyed at all the piddling that has taken place so most of the doors in the house have been kept closed and we only have access to the landing, hallway, kitchen and the great outdoors via the CatPod and the House of Fun. Lillibet & Faith have been cooped up in the office at night to give them a break from calling CatWomen. Tyga and I do have access to the kitten room via the catflap, so it's not all bad as I recover and have somewhere quiet to rest and recover. Also, the Parentals have been exceptionally busy and not at home at all during the day.  This has been a great time for the established CatWomen to piddle endlessly anywhere.  So, lock down it is until they stop!  I did have a pee on the worktop, I had a bad day, what can I say!

Besides all this creating some unease in the house, ManSlave tried to lighten the mood a tad.  He said he should start a cat band.  Eh?  Well, it seems that you can play us like various instruments.  Ikon makes the best guitar, he stands on the worktop at waist height and there he can be plucked from head to toe with a tickle under his chin whilst strumming his sides.  He goes all tall and enjoys the movement and purrs the bars out.  Of course, Magnus Rex wants a go at anything his Dad has done first and stands taller than Ikon now and very nearly as long. When ManSlave strums his sides, he goes all ticklish, giggly and bendy, more like a ukulele to play.  I overheard him talking to  Flaire, his favourite girl.  He said "come here beautiful, let me play you like a guitar."  She didn't like it much and replied that she was more like a delicate flute than a guitar. She sits and upturns her face with the tiny space under her nose shining pink making her very kissable.  He picks her up and she is long and gentle, despite her gravelly voice hitting that lowest of B3's. Tyga was involved too and ManSlave describes her as a delicate harp that resonates with a strong purr.  She is not one for plucking, she will only be strummed in a flowery light touch.  I am more like one of those wash boards, stretching up to ManSlaves shoulders whilst he rubs my generous sides. .

I am not totally sure that all those instruments go together and it will be an interesting sound from three strings and a wind instrument.  Especially as the Flaire the flute is only playing low notes, spitting out her tune as she sees her son, Magnus Rex, who is giggling all the way through the event.  Tyga is getting frustrated and is all huff and puff and a roll her eyes as hers will be pitch purrfect of course and Ikon's guitar wants to be playing rock rather than classical music.  Pearl wanted to be part of the band as she has the sweetest song to her and trills like an Alpaca, Momma's ickle Llama!  She does have her very own song 'Pearl's a singer' which Momma sings to her often. Finally, I follow up with percussion washboard which is more of a jazz and skiffle sound of old time music.  We are all different in personality and type, maybe an unorthodox band will suit us well after all?

Each morning or evening before Momma goes to work, she has been making bits and bobs to go onto the new kitten pen construction. There have been doors to stain and cover as well as handles to put on and things to saw and make fit in unusual places. It is looking very interesting and unique. There has been much pressing of material and making of bedding too.  It is great being allowed in to help and it's great to feel better and want to help out too, especially sawing.  Ikon likes to explore all the nooks and crannies, hence why Momma is desperately making doors to lock him out before he piddles on everything.  He also trashes everything Momma has made and is trying to try glues and things and he is there knocking everything over or standing on things he shouldn't.  He never lasts long, where as I am a total angel and I guess it's not as interesting as I have watched it all being made.

It's time to get ready for a lovely Sunday where the sun is shining and hopefully some time out in the garden which we haven't really had due to the weather and the fact that the mature CatWomen are yelling a bit.  Pearl has a nifty knack of climbing the cat fence and racing off to find a boyfriend.  We certainly don't need any variant babies with the local tom thank you very much!  And after SaBreena's escapology the week before, Momma said it's not possible to be keeping an eye on everyone all the time and she is work weary and us cats are devious!  My job today is to care for the Gloucestershire old spot pork leg we have.  It even has a black part on the skin, it looks very weird and a bit hairy too. ManSlave will have to get his clippers out!  Being pork, we shouldn't really get any raw meat due to the worms, however, Flaire really LOVES pork so she might get a little nibble before it heads into the oven, then, once cooked we can all have a taste too.

Enjoy the final bit of sunshine today folks as I hear it is to drop to 16 degrees soon and that means donning a jacket to venture outside, brrr.  Hope someone told the squirrels!  Lots of love and whiskery kisses from your Queen Vee =^..^=

IThe week began in an ordinary way, Sunday rolled into Monday and all was well until Monday night when I had my last meal of the day and in honesty, it nearly was my last meal!  Frustratingly, after many a dark day in my youth and heavy medication at a tiny age to save my life, my Vet feels that I have formed allergies from their use.  The allergies are quite serious and stop me breathing on several occasions but never as much as this night.  My new Vet Hannah suggested that, due to being on Atopica,, I could try some special food for my Struvite bladder crystals.  Unfortunately, what is on the market all has animal derivatives in, which means any meat to make up the content of protein. There I was happily having my late meal ready for going under sedation the next morning for scans and all tucked into bed when I felt the familiar dread of throaty closey!  I jumped from the bed, luckily I sleep with Momma, so she was out of bed and holding my head up as I flick flacked about, gasping. Then a funny thing happened, I kinda passed out.  I don't remember the middle bit but I woke up with Momma's face all worried and a mask over my sniffer with lovely sweet smelling oxygen being sifted through my nostrils like a spring day.  Then a really disgusting thing happened, Momma spat into my mouth a chewed up pill of antihistamine and followed it by water, mouth to mouth like a baby bird to help me swallow it fast and then the mask again and I lay there, in her lap whilst  shed a few tears of relief and I breathed and could feel my heart beat beginning to normalise.

I was taken to the vets in the morning as agreed and they looked after me very well, although, I was very scared and quiet.  Luckily, they only found sludge in my bladder which is so much easier to treat (unless you have food allergies).  I was sent home with lots of new medications to make me feel brighter and after three days I began to feel a bit better, enough to watch squirrels in the CatPod and to day four where, for the first time in a month, I picked up Wiggly Worm and dragged him down stairs singing my Wiggly Worm song and laid him at ManSlave's brightly socked feet to play.  See what the right food and some heavy duty pain killers can do for a girl?  There is one last mention on the cat widdle front is that there has been much piddling and whilst I was away for the entire day - it still went on - So, I would like to thwak Lillibet around her bottom for piddling in the lounge chair and it wasn't me and to Pearl who piddled in the kitten room and I wasn't there and to Flaire who piddled on the cat wheel and I wasn't there..  Between the piddling and the puking this week - Momma about had enough of all of us!

During my off days there was much thieving of fish fingers from plates by the youngsters.  Not having really tried fish finger before, Robyn was a bit unsure until she tried it then she was like a devil Rex.  Magnus Rex was glad of it as he had munched a tiny piece of plastic which began a puking session that lasted two days.  He hadn't then eaten for thirty six hours and fish finger was a welcome beginning.  I think the poor mite was scared to eat another thing!  Luckily, the plastic came up last and with the heat of the day and loss of valuable electrolytes, he was a bit flat out all the next day too.  Momma, of course monitored him and gave him fluids throughout as well as all night and by morning two he was brighter.  He was back being helpy with all things kitten room renovation, managing the stapler and theft of pencils.

We heard some lovely news about Tina & Rambo too (Pearlings 2019) A few months back they won a fourth place each in the Household Pet Cat Club of GB and were sent two lovely rosettes (actually donated by Faith & Ikon who came first) But in true Maystar style, it is lovely to give and they felt the kittens were very deserving of their awards and rosettes.  With C19 lockdown, there has been little chance to show the babies this year, so this was a lovely idea for an online show.  And talking about online shows, Robyn won a waggly cat pole from Purrs Cat Toys by coming 3rd place in another virtual show.  It was a funny photo of Robyn sitting on Momma's head. That silly Grand Daughter of mine takes after her Great Great Grand Cat, Gracie.   There are some more shows coming up as well as a possible virtual show in the pipeline for us to run too! Watch this space!

For today we shall all settle for a rainy Sunday with a visit from some friends to break the rain up and then all snuggle up and watch the Grand Prix from Spain where we can only dream of laying in the hot hot sun again soon. I have a tan to top up don't you know, one too may white bits...MOL

TO PEE OR NOT TO PEE?

Starting the week with Lillibet charming Momma each morning to get a spoonful of Oat milk from her bowl of cereal.  It's a daily occurrence where she sits on the bedside table and places her paw on Momma's spoon arm and stares into her face and with a gentle mew presses her want home. Every spoonful is a challenge with a jolting movement from bowl to mouth.  Lillibet mewling and flapping her long licker about  in desperate hope of catching a drip. She is finally rewarded with a spoonful left in the bowl and licks it happily chinking the spoon as she washes the bowl clean.

There have been some changes to the kitten room this week with some redecorating and bed moving. Of course, everyone was helpy.  Hiding under the bed and into the draws and onto the shelves.  At one point, there was a UPVC sheet placed on the draws and Flaire jumped onto the top, tipped it forwards and ended up surfing very dramatically down to the floor.  She held her placement on the board well, skirting backwards as it slid to the ground and finally it hit the blue carpet like a backwash and she didn't even have to bail, but flattened her body down as it came to a halt in the seafoam where she dismounted in a very professional way.  We were all amazed and half expected her to thrust the board under her armpit, climb the draws and repeat the amazing feat.  We did all laugh so much and she loved that, strutting her stuff and poofing out her Baywatch chest, hitching up her cozzy, walking away, shaking one back leg, trying not to make a drama that it was giving her a camel toe!

After a little decorating and stripping of the kitten room and the kitten pen has been stored for the time being as there is a new pen being constructed in Momma's head. But first there is real work to be done with banging and stapling. So much work, so little time Momma says!  I have tried to be useful but again I feel off and feel a bit rough, so Momma booked me in to see vet Hannah on Wednesday.  I was knocked out this time as I peed a giant pee on the main bed and it looked very wrong indeed. With being knocked out, Vet Hannah stuck a giant needle into my bladder and sent my sample off with a courier to get it tested quickly.  On Friday evening the results were in that I am poorly after all and have Struvite crystals in my bladder and I can tell you IT HURTS REAL BAD!!!  I now have to wait until Tuesday to go and be scanned and Xrayed so more drowsy stuff. And, in case I also need to have things removed or flushed out, I have to be starved too.  I hope they hurry because it is really sore and all night in with Momma and ManSlave I am very wriggly and bite my flanks despite the painkillers.  I just want to lay on Momma all night or go for long wash on ManSlaves pillow, which I know annoys him and I wash right next to his lughole!

Even though I am very peeky and a bit narky with the babies, I have still enjoyed mooching about in the warmth of the sun and love watching the babies race about chasing bugs and butterflies.  Very unfortunately for a small Dunnock, who was hopping along happily and hopped right into the House of Fun and it was curtains for him.  Ikon mashed him quickly and I stole the little body from Ikon, leaving him and his Son, Magnus, to play with tail feathers.  I skipped across the sky bridge and down the other side, cradling the warm body in my jaws and presented him to Momma with a flourish.  Momma went to collect him up and make sure he was out of pain, but I hadn't finished yet, so snatched him up, trotting into the kitchen and laid him in the rocking chair toy as though presenting him on an alter. Then Robyn caught the scent and together with SaBreena they stripped him naked without touching his skin.  That whole experience exhausted me and I slept for most of the afternoon, leaving the RoboVac to tidy up after those pesky feather stripping kittens!

Normally, I am here with Momma writing my Blog, but I just can't face it today so whispered all my thoughts to her whilst she slept last night as I lay on her chest covered with a floofy blankie, yes, in this heat!  I was chilled.  Momma was not and her deep heat warmed my bladder nicely.  So, instead, Lillibet and Faith are helping to guide the story and watching Gardners' World at the same time where there are lots of birdy noises to keep them hoping to see one. Faith gently purring and Lillibet is being a fidget as usually and wants attention so mewls and purrs until Momma has to type with just one hand. The kittens and Ikon are being kept busy with cat TV in the lounge as ManSlave is swimming in the fishtank doing water changes with Tyga riding his shoulders.  I am being a powerhouse at the end of the bed in a very uncomfortable pile.  Soon my new food will arrive from Amazon, along with a new water fountain.  Poor ManSlave, he will never see an end to paying off his credit card with us around!

BIRTHDAY WRAPPING WITH LOTS OF FUN PLAYING IN THE WRAPPINGS AND ON THE PREZZIES
Picture

The week went so fast with warm days out in the communal garden which provides us with the opportunity to chase bugs and things.  This week was flying ant week and we really enjoyed those immensely, jumping and chasing them as they left their nest in the plant pot. I think Ikon ate too many as he was sicky after eating some.  Not surprised really, they have formic acid which is the simplest type of carboxylic acid with the chemical formula of HOOCH - oh, wait, I got that wrong, Hooch is a alcoholic drink, I think it's HCOOH, no wonder he was sick!!!!  Momma said because he was sick from eating far too many flying  formīcas he would be in great need of an 'AntAcid' so she gave him a little goat yogurt to sooth his tummy.

On Wednesday, Momma rang the vets because I was a bit 'off' and just wasn't bouncing about being my usual happy self.  I was to see Vet Hannah this time as my lovely Vet Katie was off poorly. As usual, there was a carpark consult and I was taken in for blood tests as Hannah agreed I was pale and that my ticker has a whoosh, which was there on the last checkup and is thought to be linked to the Atopica where my immune system is being lowered with it's use.  At first, Vet Hannah rang Momma back to say they might have to snuff me with a bit of gas because I was so wriggly.  Momma explained that if you talk silly to me, I AM silly and wriggle and go all like syrup in your hands.  So Momma said to Vet Hannah she had to be firm and fair with me and say kinda sternly 'VIKTORI SIT!' - She tried it on the phone and I planted by butt down and presented my paw in a high five.  The blood was taken in seconds and I was whisked off by the nurses and Momma could hear them say "Viktori Sit, High Five." and then lots of laughter as I demonstrated my tricks. I was officially named 'Patient of the Day' and everyone loved me. Of course they did, I am pretty special.

I was sent home with a boost of vitamins to perk me up and my blood work revealed that my white blood cells were high and so was my blood urea nitrogen (BUN) was off too.  I always said I had the best BUN's in the house as Momma calls me sexy arse all the time!  This means that somewhere in my body is inflammation, which is possibly in my bladder again as I tiddled on the carpet on Thursday.  So on Saturday, Vet Hannah rang and put up some Metacam for me to take and already I am back up, racing about and enjoying ManSlaves Purrday today.
THE NEW TOY MANSLAVE GOT FOR HIS PURRDAY!
Picture

ManSlave got a new Robot Vacuum to tidy up out floofy bits and cat litter which creates much dust for his sensitive sniffer.  It was charging up, minding it's own business when I stood on it, well, it was warm there snuggled in it's nest.  It made me jump and zoomed forwards. I leapt back and then attacked it as I thought how very rude that it should do that.  I chased it and poked it and that brought my daughter, Tyga, and her Daughter, Robyn, to my rescue and they too jumped all over it poking it's tiny brushes.  Even Pearl had a go and later Ikon and Magnus.  We all looked very funny following it about and harassing it like a load of Mongoose with a snake.  We really do pack together in our clowder to help each other out..  ManSlave said it was the most expensive cat toy Momma had ever purchased, Oops!  We were very upset when it was sent back to charge up properly and we sat about staring at it telling it that we are in control here, not some litter sucker.  It is our job to spread the grey stuff about and I can see that the kittens will be spilling even more just to get the technology to tidy up so we can harass it some more.  Watch this space!

Enjoy your Sunday folks. ManSlave has a Tomahawk of beef for dinner. It is the lovely Simmental cows from Kenilworth Fields. Ooooh, more bones for us to chew later.

Bow down all ye folks and bringeth joy to our ManSlave on his day of birth. From your Queen Vee. =^..^=

A STING IN THE TAIL

We shall start the week with the shock that Robyn had.  Poor mite. We get a significant amount of bees here with all the bee friendly flowers in the summer for them.  Unfortunately, this also brings with it the distinct chance that some one will be stung.  It hasn't happened for ages and was quite a shock as it happened late in the evening.  8pm and a very loud one monotone scream came racing up the stairs, closely followed by her entourage.  It was clear from her jumping and shaking that something was terribly wrong and then she held her paw aloft for Momma to see.  Oh my - a fat foot!  ManSlave grabbed an antihistamine and a towel with ice whilst Momma tried to calm her and find the exact place where she was stung and there, between her tiny toes was a big stinger pumping away.  ManSlave flicked it off with his credit card, she was given the antihistamine and cooled with the ice.  Her heart rate came down quickly which saved us racing her to the vets but she was very agitated for two whole hours, crying, itching, jumping about and generally upset.  Momma applied cold herbal compresses and this helped quite a bit as well as cuddles and kisses between the pain fluctuations. Luckily, her Mum Tyga soon took over her care allowing her to suckle from her for comfort. She eventually fell into a deep sleep curled up with Tyga.  He foot was still a bit fat in the morning, so she was given another tablet and she was soon racing about as if nothing had happened.  Sadly the bee dies from a massive abdominal rupture after leaving their two barbed lancet behind.  Momma berated Robyn telling her that a bee had been sacrificed.

The rest of the week was quite dull after that little adventure.  We were allowed out to play in the communal area which ManSlave made bigger for us to mooch in.  There are lots of tiny bugs and spiders and sometimes, if we are lucky, frogletts. Momma has been working away making a huge plank of decking into a new section of climbing posts in the CatPod.  It is always nice to have extra perching places and to make sure the baby cats have safe access to the high shelves.  In the House Of Fun she added outdoor shelf or two which enable us to get up close and personal to the racing Horrible Horrace family.  We stayed out for hours in the warmth of the evenings and the scene was so amusing to see as the heat radiates from the wood, there were six of us facing the shed walls, eyes shut, heads down, bodies slightly swaying just absorbing the last rays from above us through the fiberglass roof.  SaBreena and I were still on high alert for Squirrels, we were just resting our eyes!

After last weeks heavily seasoned roast port, this weekend ManSlave opted for Welsh lamb with just simple herbs. However, already he has cut a big chunk off for mincing and we can have that at lunch time.  Ooooh, I can't wait and neither can Magnus, he already had a taste! Cheeky youngans. Pfft.  Talking of food, Flaire has been testing out 'Taste of the Wild' cat food. We used to have it way in the past before I was born and when King Slinky was trialing food for his tummy and skin.  So far she is enjoying it and it has been mixed into her duck meal which she had gone off the smell of it. It is very strong.  So long as she only has her weighed amount and her tin of tuna a day her tummy is just perfect.  The great thing about the food is it doesn't have any chicken or rice product. It is just fish, however, not everyone likes fish here.  It is a struggle at times to find kibble that will be small enough so her kittens can eat it when left out for her.  The big duck ones Ikon, Pearl and I have are way too big for kittens.  Never a dull moment! The rest of the house eat Purina ProPlan Sensitive Turkey & rice with Faith and Lillibet on the diet version.

Lillibet has been kipping in the kitten room all day, laying next to the TV watching birds.  She hardly moves and is enjoying lounging about in her newly found spot, which was temporary bedding. I guess that's staying no for awhile to accommodate her fickle nature.  She and Faith have been on diet food and between them lost 800g! Quite an achievement and again, finding the right diet food was a challenge and Momma tried plenty of different ones to get the right balance for them and hey presto it finally began to shift that stubborn weight they were both carrying about.  Besides Lillibet's sedentary behaviour this week, both girls have more energy and a waist!

Well, I am off now.  I have a date with the sun. It is bright and cheery outside and I hear the back door and gate are now open for us to race about and chase each other around the pots. Pearl and Flaire are calling like mad so all they are chasing is Ikon and he isn't entirely interested in either of them and frequently gets beaten up with their frustrations.  Magnus, Robyn and SaBreena like to jump about and practice play fighting. Tyga and I like to trip them all up as they race in and out with the odd rugby tackle.  We like to hear them scream with delight.

Enjoy your weekend folks from your eternal Queen Vee =^..^=

    QUEEN VEE

    OFFICIAL BLOG SPOT
Since 2012 King Slinky has written and devoted his life to his loyal subjects, but with his passing in October 2016 someone had to be successor to the crown.

The position now falls to Queen Viktory Vee.  She is now the reining monarch here at Maystar HQ.

Viktori lives with her  Sister Flaire, Niece Pearl and two aunts Faith & Lillibet.  We do have a reigning King Otta but he lives away from the HQ.
